I like Rewe. It's one of the few supermarkets (or anything customer-centered, really) in Germany where there is some care put into dealing with the customer. Having said that, these past months it's been going down. I always greet the cashiers with a smile and a "Guten Tag", but I'm almost never greeted back. Most of the times, there's not even eye contact with the customers, and a couple of times I've even had the cashiers chit chat with one another without acknowledging the existence of the customer, without looking, without greeting, and without saying thank you. We're lucky that they even hand us the till receipt. But nothing tops being bumped hardly by a passing member of staff who was obviously upset about something else, and didn't bother to look back, let alone apologize. Are you people mad? Do you even want to have customers?! The only reason you get 3 stars is the quality of the products (best veggies in Harburg), and the positive experience in the past.

Staff is not the friendliest, a bit cramped and always very long lines.
