Want to experience authentic Bavarian food, you got to come to eat at Franziskaner. It’s a wonderful restaurant where you can truly enjoy hearty Southern German food and hospitality.

By the time you step into the restaurant, you are welcomed with amazing German enthusiasm and warmth. Servers are all wearing the Southern German Bavarian traditional custom. And the interior transports you to another German era. You know you’re going in for a treat of great German food.

Our big waiter gave us great recommendations of all the famous Bavarian dishes. Our orders covered them all that included sausages, sauerkraut, veggies, knuckle of pork and cold beers.

I highly recommend the crispy knuckle of pork. The skin is so crispy and the meat inside is so tender. the meat felt off bone literally.

Another thing you got to have is their beer. We got light beers and they were so good. Much better than the beers we’ve ever had in the states.

We will definitely be back for more of these foods before we leave Hamburg.

Nice ambience u0026 very friendly service..and fast too.

We really enjoyed our mushroom soup, veal schnitzel u0026 Schwein Schnitzel..all were very delicious.

The minus star: we saw a little mice crawling down the staircase ???? Informed the staff but the mice went hiding between the staircase. I hope the restaurant could solve this issue fast.

Visit Franziskaner last Spring 2019. Love the food and beer. No need to mention about the great location. The service was good and they only use paper recyclable take out bag. Will come back next in Hamburg.

Delicious food, complete with English translated menu (thank god!). We tried a few different dishes and even came back a second time on our short trip. I personally liked the knuckle platter (off the bone pork knuckle) and the kellerbier (unfiltered beer). Our family also tried the 403 sausages meal, and the full pork knuckle with some success. Would visit again if back in the city and would recommend for those who enjoy good food, and local cuisines. Note: not all servers are fluent in English but they will try their best and are all very friendly!

Great place to have typical German food and beer. Good atmosphere, relaxed, food choice is decent and not expensive. Meat options were particularly good. Can sit at the bar or at a table and is a good choice for groups with upstairs seating also available. Service was slightly slow but overall was helpful.
