Terrible place
Stayed here for four days. The hotel is completely run down and disorganised. Cleaning of hallways and rooms takes place in the evening, or, as in our case, not at all. Our room had an artificial leather canapé which shed its pieces over the whole room during our stay. Breakfast is super simple and coffee is sub standard/bearly drinkable. The hotel is situated next to a busy main road which makes for noisy nights. The owner is rather unfriendly and refused our request for a different room saying noise could be expected before booking. The only plus is free parking. We will certainly not come back.

Bewildering billing system had us issued with a paper invoice but the only way to pay it was a bank transfer as once the paper invoice was issued the reception was unable to accept cash or credit card payment. It felt like a situation you read about in a Kafka novel. Clearly, the management was beholden by it's accounting software.
The towels looked like the hotel had washed them for the last 50 years. There were glasses in the room and a bottle opener but no mini bar or anything to drink. The pillowes were flat as a flounder.

Perfect location, good price, nice breakfast and option to park you car.

The room I stayed in looks new but was however directly next to the main road through Blankenese and despite modern double glazed windows it was too loud to let me sleep peacefully.

The rooms were clean and ok in size. Breakfast is very simple and the options are little. For example there’s only one type of milk (no less fat or even a vegan milk), two warm choices (scrambled eggs and some sausage) and three types of Müsli (if you count choco pops as müsli).

But worst is the staff. Not even a smile or a friendly word. When I checked out there was no “Hope you enjoyed your stay” but I guess they too often got an earful of complaints after that so they stopped asking.

Unfortunately there’s not much alternatives in Blankenese in that price category so it seems that they can continue to run their hotel like this.

But a smile doesn’t cost anything and some kind words make a big change for a guest.

Reading the other reviews it seems this is something that’s going on for years, so make up your mind if that’s ok for you. I will surely not return to this hotel.

Very nice staff, very friendly. Only downside was that if you get a room on the third flight of stairs you have to carry everything up with you. I had a toddler and a lot of luggage which hd to be dragged up with me. Other wise the hotel is highly recommend fair prices and very welcoming to stay again.

Reception on arrival was very... german (no english or french spoken). Breakfast was very limited (a lot of porc for the fans). Bathroom very clean but no welcome pack (no mini shaving cream or other stuff that usually are there for that rate, only soap dispenser in shower). Lousy pillows on the bed (my neck still hurts). Rooms look very old but clean. I did like the available parking under the hotel which was standard included, but you had to walk outside in the street to reach it (it is UNDER the hotel!) no access from inside...the beach was relatively nearby and beautiful. Central square with restaurants and metro also at walking distance.

At Hotel Behrmann, part of the local Hesse Hotel chain, we enjoyed a decent size room in prime location in central Blankenese. Insisting on a quiet room in our booking request, we were lucky to get a large, patio facing room, away from the main street “Elbchaussee”. The bathroom with a shower was modern, but very narrow. We felt that 110€ per night (incl tax) for a large, quiet room and breakfast buffet were very reasonable, considering the location.

The hotel is well run and rooms were clean throughout. When we visited over the Whitsun weekend, the hotel was busy with couples and families. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, though at around 10:30 am the scrambled egg was already cold. The green tea with one 5gr tea bag per pot was a bit of a disappointment, but the coffee was fine.

The staff are friendly and uncomplicated, facilitated keys for our late arrival and didn’t request a deposit for the booking. The hotel doesn’t offer bike parking, though we parked our bikes in the underground garage where it felt safe. Our impression would have been even better, if Hotel Behrmann had provided some safe, covered bike parking or Sheffield stands in the underground garage! The friendly staff accepted to keep our bike panniers in reception after check-out, while we visited Blankenese’s stairs quarter “Treppenviertel”.
