In the kitchen of the "old building" there were masses of cigarettes, which the "cheap workers" (name of a roommate) who lived there left lying around. After all, the location is good - easily accessible. It is also cheap there; but none of the people we spoke to wanted to stay there again "if that can be avoided".

Dafür standen zur Straße hin jede Menge Säcke mit Schutt herum. Es dauerte lange, bis sich hinterm Haus ein Mann als verantwortlich erklärte, der wenigstens ein paar Brocken Deutsch konnte. Wieder nach längerer Zeit hatte er unser Zimmer hergerichtet und präsentierte es stolz. Im Bad lief leider ständig Wasser unten aus dem Klo. Wohl damit uns nicht langweilig wurde, marschierte täglich ein Arbeiter (alle nicht sozialversichert??) in unsere Kemenate. Dort entschuldigte er sich mehrfach in gebrochenem Englisch - da die Arbeiter meist aus Ex-Jugoslawien stammen, kann fast keiner mehr als ein, zwei Worte Deutsch. Dann rückte der Mann beherzt ein Stockbett beiseite, verschob eine Fliese und drehte am unterirdischen Wasserzulauf. Das Loch blieb sodann längere Zeit offen im Boden, dieses Spielchen wiederholte sich mehrfach. Der Neubau, an dem fast ununterbrochen gewerkelt wurde - bis tief in die Nacht - steht irre nah am bereits vorhandenen Haus. Warum auch nicht, so kann man in das Grundstück möglichst viele "easy Zimmer" reinbasteln! Die Gäste munkelten, dass hier keine Feuerschutzrichtlinien eingehalten würden, und dass mal das Finanz-, Ordnungs-, Sozial- und Arbeitsamt möglichst zugleich nach dem Rechten sehen müssten. In der Küche des "Altbaus" lagen Massen von Zigaretten herum, welche die dort wohnenden "Billig-Arbeiter" (Bezeichnung eines Mitbewohners) liegen lassen. Realistisch dürfte man wohl kein Zimmer vermieten, wenn gleichzeitig laute, nicht ungefährliche Bauarbeiten vor Ort am Laufen sind. Aber solange diese fragwürdige Praxis gutes Geld gibt... Die Lage ist immerhin gut - verkehrsgünstig. Günstig ist es da auch; dennoch wollte keiner der Leute, die wir gesprochen haben, nochmal dort übernachten "wenn sich das vermeiden lässt".
