Very interesting and cool little museum - it doesn't sound inviting, but really - it's well worth it, 10 mins walk from Spitalerstrasse - the best €2 you'll spend. Thank me later.

A great museum which shows importance of borders and customs and the long way we've come to tear down those borders within the EU.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
However my impression was that the exhibition isn't well maintained. It appears old and some demonstrators like scales are broken.

If you have any hour or so to spare in Hamburg then head for the Customs museum, both informative and fun. Downstairs walks you through the more current situations and legislation for customs and upstairs takes you through the history of customs in Germany. There is also a customs ship docked outside

Interesting museum to visit if you want to learn more about the German customs agency and customs in general . Most of the museum is in German, so it would be good to take into account that factor. The entrance cost 2€ per person. It can take you a little bit more than an hour to look at the museum. Easy access through public transportation.

Medium size museum with all German customs history files and data.
The location is perfect next to the water.
The tour is quite rapid and the price is adjusted to it.
I would have preferred if there was more English translations in order to have the full view of the museum. Below a very interesting picture of our world trade.

I never actually went in but the location is great.
I think it is free entry so give it a try. ????
