So - this was a really funny and quirky experience, but which was truly fun and enjoyable. PSV-Gasttaette is not a restaurant in the traditional sense, so tourists be aware, but the Gastfreundschaft and Gemuetlichkeit is great and the food is good too. This is more akin to a local neighborhood bar/sports club with a restaurant service.
The PSV stands for Pensions-Sicherungs-Verein, which is a like a fraternal organization.
We did not realize this until after we took a cab here on a late Saturday night, however the hosts were perfectly friendly and welcomed us to stay and have dinner. We had a few beers and then ate our meal of mixed vegetables, salads, and the mains; veal schnitzel and sauerbraten, which was delicious, all for less than 20 Euros a piece.
I would recommend the PSV-Gaststaette Freiburg to anyone who wants a good inexpensive meal in a super friendly environment with locals.
