We had a very comfortable stay at this hostel that happens to be located next to a river. There's a lot of space for activities with the open field right outside the hostel.

Your stay here will come with breakfast with a plethora of choices that is a staple among Germans and I'd guess the most of Europe.

I have been there with my Italian middle school and I think it was my greatest experience I ever had. It has a giant Mensa, a "play room", a basket field and a big garden.
The only flaw is that the rooms are a bit little.
You can also make new friends with other countries, that's great!

Very clean, nice beds and showers. Free breakfast. Seems like lots of families and youth groups stay here. The only downside is the 15 minute tram ride necessary to get between the hostel and the old town.

Incredibly clean, and easily the nicest youth hostel I have ever stayed in. Staff were friendly and the food was decent. The kitchen was one of the cleanest I have ever seen in such a setting. Just make sure to bring your own towels

Very friendly staff, accommodated this alone and pregnant traveler nicely, helping with my luggage and saving a bottom bunk for me. Beds were comfy and I got lucky with quiet roommates. WiFi in Common areas could be much better, the reason I took a star off the rating, and the location isn’t ideal. But inexpensive, free breakfast, comfortable, clean, and great staff.

You have your own bath and the rooms have a nice shape. Also, you are directly next to the river and have a view on the schwarzwald! really pretty. In addition, you are not too near to the city but not too far away..
It would be 5 stars if they had a piano here.

Very friendly staff with great tips and information about the area. Not to mention the Black Forest right outside the door!!! Just be prepared for people being up at late hours of the evening, maybe earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Great breakfast spread and clean rooms, can't ask for much more.
