We came there with 4 kids, asked to serve us few times, waited for 20 minutes for a waiter, but they were so busy with other few boards, so we had to leave and find another place.

Surprisingly good fresh food considering the location. Big terrace with opportunities for both sun and shadow, als inside tables available. Some vegan options, meat, fish, pasta and pizza. Or just have a drink and icecream or waffle. Located inside the beautiful Grugapark.

Very good cakes. The service could be slightly better.

Not good (pizza), expensive... The waitress don't listen to you when you order and give you something else more expensive than what you order (waffle)... Becareful if you are tourist they don't accept foreigner bank card !

Not a nice place at all. The waiters were running there and back all the time ignoring us and other people who wanted to order. The place was full but still the service was missing and staff wasn't friendly at all. We didn't try the food, only wanted some ice cream for the kids. It took about 30 minutes to just order, if we weren't with the kids we would have left 3 times already, and we had to go to the counter to demand someone to finally come and take our order. The waiter wasn't listening to us, and we had to correct him as he completely misunderstood all we were saying. We ordered a mixed ice cream bowl where you normally can choose the sorts. But when we tried to order 2 scoops of strawberry and one of chocolate (instead of 1 strawberry, 1 choco and one vanilla), he said that it is too complicated and they have no time for such "exotic" orders now. It was so ridiculous we could not believe it. You don't expect anything in such places, but it was so outstanding that I decided to describe it so detailed here. No interest to come here again - no way!

I was there to buy something to eat and drink.
There were two unprofessional men. They didn’t speak English at all. I asked if I can pay with the card, he asked me : what card ? Credit card? And then ask another guy ( probably the boss) and the “boss” said : no, nein... the first guy tried to use my chip card, wrong side...????????u200d♀️
And then the “boss” said : nein, nein, nur Deutsche Karte !!!!!!
Terrible customer service. Only German people can coming in this “restaurant “.....
I will Never be back there again.
Good luck.

The Orangerie is clearly only still in business because it's the only place close to the Uniklinik Essen where you can get something to eat after 1700hrs.

It's well situated in the park which helps. The food is okay, but not worth the price. Service is friendly, but it doesn't help to see the waiters sitting at their table smoking cigarettes and then handling your food and beverages.
