If your in Essen Germany, stop and have a meal at d.bar. The hamburgers are wonderful, and the homemade sauces are stellar. We couldn’t have asked for a better host. Loved it!

We only tried the burgers. I've been living and traveling around Europe out of belgium for just over 3 years and these are the best burgers I've come across. And all the sauces are top notch as well.
Otto is an excellent host, He made sure we felt welcome even though we brought 2 toddlers with us to a place that very obviously entertains an adult crowd. Otto provided us some great ideas for things to see and do in Essen before we left.

The area where this bar/restaurant is located is not great, but as soon as you enter d.bar you feel welcomed by the pleasant atmosphere, nice music, smart interior and friendly host.
The food: good burgers, refined antipasti, but it is the bruschetta that really impresses! A simple dish but easy to get it wrong, but at d.bar they do it absolutely right!
Highly recommended place for a meal or a drink.
Super clean toilets too!

Reasonable burger bar. Small selection of burgers and sides but appears very popular with the locals...
