Took me 2 years to cancel my membership. When you want to cancel. They give you a specific time of the year to come and cancel. And if you miss it, they ask you to come back next year. I’m not familiar with the German cancellation laws so i was at their mercy. Awful awful experience.

Solid gym, friendly crew that explain anything you may need, nice atmosphere and the machines are pretty good, happy to have found this :)

In October 2020, I went to Maxx Gym to cancel my gym membership, and I was informed that it was not possible to cancel at that moment. I asked the guy when my contract would expire and he told me in november, then I wouldn't need to do anything.

With the lockdown, I didn't go to the gym anymore, because it was closed, but turns out that I've been charged since then (05 Jun 2021). Today I called to the gym to cancel, and I heard the same thing again: Your contract will be cancelled in August. I demanded my contract to be cancelled right away, because this is not the first time I requested. They said they will send my cancellation to my email and also via post. I also asked for my reimbursement and I was offered 3 months for free, when I paid 8 months for a gym that was closed by lockdown.

Horrible service, they don't care about the customers, the employees are instructed to lie to you. I don't recommend this place.

I like this place, it's clean and nice, full of equipments. The staff are friendly and all speak English. The courses are very nice, the couches are passionate and responsible. Nothing smells bad. And atmosphere is quite good. I'm really happy with every visit.

The gym is relatively small, but contains all the necessary equipment. It also offers a nice variety of courses. A BIG MINUS is that there is no air-conditioning - meaning that the temperature is only regulated by opening windows. That does not really help when it is +30 degrees outside.

There is “no flirting” policy, which is nice. Once a guy was trying to get to know me. The trainer reacted quickly and checked whether everything is okay and whether I am in any way disturbed.

Another BIG MINUS is security. Some people enter the gym without having their cards with them. Once some 2 strange ladies came in and stole phones and wallets from the ladies’ changing rooms. Despite the fact that gym has cameras, it turned out that they were not working. In any case, this was reported to the police, but the phone is gone.

The gym facilities are okay and the location is good....but some of the rules in this gym are really ridiculous! I have been a member of good gyms in London (Virgin and David Lloyd), South Africa (Virgin), Singapore (Fitness First) and in the Middle East but I've never been told you can't wear a vest in any gym except here at Maxx Gym (even though ladies are allowed to wear vests?!). I was also told you have to change your shoes in the gym because you might bring in dirt from outside. This would make sense if the changing room was near the entrance, but in this gym you have to walk through the gym with the same shoes anyway to get to the changerooms at the back. The only explanation offered by the staff in the gym was to say that they don't make the rules.

I hardly advice to avoid this gym. Was a client for almost 2 years, luckly I managed to end my contract earlier. It's the only fitness studio in Düsseldorf where there is no air conditioning. In summer You get 40 degree and guess what, it is also the only gym where YOU CAN'T train in a tank top (however it says that all clients can not train in tank tops, it is an unwriten rule which includes only men, funny) cause as they say it is to aggressive, same with dumbbells, more as 25kg is to agressive. It costs 20€ per month, if You don't have money in Your account on the 1st, guess what, they will charge You an extra 12,50€ penalty even if You pay with cash the same day. Not to mention that You will hardly get any music there, cause in their opinion too loud music is not good for training. And if somehow the music will be playing it will be most likely very quiet and something more for a romantic dinner than training. What gets broken in this gym most likely stay broken for 2 or 3 months if it ever comesback. I just feel sorry for the people who work there, however they can train there for free most of them train in other fitness studios cause as most people who come there to train, not to talk, they know that Maxx Gym is really Maxx Shi*.
