Wunderschöne Parkanlage mit herrlich alten Bäumen. Die Blumenbeete sind sehr gepflegt und schön arrangiert. Der oberknaller war die 300 jährige Orangenbaumpflanze und natürlich die über 220 jährige Kamelie mit dem fahrbaren Gewächshaus. Die Orangerie darf sich noch ein bisschen einwachsen. The Kamelienhaus is located in the park of Pillnitz Castle. Unfortunately, nothing else is open at the moment apart from the palm house. In the palm house there are also very interesting plants and their flowers to admire.
Admission to both houses costs €3/€2.50. Since we're in Germany, you can't pay by card, of course, so you have to carry a sack of small change with you. You also need the same for the toilet, because the machine is from 1956 and of course doesn't change either ????
Unfortunately, the cashier in the Kamelienhaus was very unfriendly and probably didn't feel like working on Sundays.
The park is clean and well-kept and the crocuses are currently in bloom, which is beautiful to look at.
A big problem is the parking situation in Pillnitz. There are visitor parking spaces, but only in a very limited number. The parking lots in the village are all occupied. So you have to spin around for a while. I have no idea how this is supposed to work when not only is the weather nice, but there are also events taking place ????.

Jetzt haben wir es auch endlich einmal geschafft, diese wunderschöne Kamelie zu bestaunen. Dank der Treppe kann man die Blüten von allen Seiten und bis zur Spitze der Pflanze sehr gut betrachten.
Das Kamelienhaus befindet sich im Park des Schlosses Pillnitz. Zur Zeit hat außer dem Palmenhaus leider nichts weiter geöffnet. Allerdings weiß ich nicht, ob das nur an Corona liegt, oder ob um diese Zeit (Februar/März) generell nichts weiter geöffnet hat. Im Palmenhaus gibt es ebenfalls sehr interessante Pflanzen und deren Blüten zu bestaunen.
Der Eintritt für beide Häuser kostet 3€/2,50€. Da wir in Deutschland sind, kann man natürlich nicht mit Karte zahlen, man muss also einen Sack Kleingeld mitschleppen. Selbiges benötigt man auch für die Toilette, denn der Automat ist von 1956 und wechselt natürlich auch nicht ????
Die Kassiererin im Kamelienhaus war leider sehr unfreundlich, hatte wahrscheinlich keine Lust am Sonntag zu arbeiten.
Der Park ist sauber und gepflegt und zur Zeit blühen die Krokusse sehr zahlreich, was wunderschön anzuschauen ist.
Ein großes Problem ist die Parkplatzsituation in Pillnitz. Es gibt zwar Besucherparkplätze, aber nur in sehr begrenzter Anzahl. Auch die Parkplätze im Ort sind alle belegt. Man muss also erst einmal eine ganze Weile kreiseln. Keine Ahnung, wie das funktionieren soll, wenn nicht nur schönes Wetter ist, sondern auch noch Veranstaltungen stattfinden ????.

Admission can be paid directly at the entrance to the shelter and costs 3 euros per person. However, access to the palm house is also included here. From April 1st, admission to the castle park, which is still free at the moment, will be subject to a charge and access to the camellia and palm house will be included in the admission price of 3 euros.

Unser letzter Besuch liegt schon knapp 3 Jahre zurück, aber da haben wir die Kamelie nicht in ihrer Blütenpracht erleben dürfen. Das war nämlich im August und die Blütezeit der ungefähr 250 Jahre alten Pillnitzer Kamelie liegt in den Monaten von Februar bis April. Am 12. März 2022 haben wir es nun endlich geschafft die alte Dame in ihrem Schutzhaus mit ihren zehntausenden Blüten zu bestaunen. Das heutige Schutzhaus wurde im Jahre 1992 erbaut und war erstmals ein fahrbares. Noch ist unter der Glaskuppel genug Platz, so dass die Kamelie ruhig noch etwas in der Höhe zulegen darf. Immerhin kratzt das Bäumchen mittlerweile an der 9 Meter-Marke. Der Eintritt kann direkt am Eingang zum Schutzhaus entrichtet werden und kostet pro Person 3 Euro. Allerdings ist hier auch der Zutritt zum Palmenhaus enthalten. Ab dem 1. April ist wohl der zur Zeit noch freie Eintritt in den Schlosspark kostenpflichtig und der Zugang zur Kamelie plus Palmenhaus in dem Eintrittspreis von 3 Euro enthalten.

Die aus Glas und Metall bestehende Konstruktion, die man wohl als eine Art Gewächshaus ansehen kann welches in der kalten Jahreszeit auf Schienen über die Kamelie gefahren wird, ist schon recht groß - aber nicht so, dass es wirklich beeindruckend wäre.
