A time machine for sure. What a neat experience. Plus, as an added bonus, your €9 DB ticket suffices! (I did have to pay €3 for my dog-stroller however!). The ride up is a couple of minutes at most, navigated in only German. Cafe and scenic overlook uptop. Prob can walk down winding path as well to bottom. Also, ample free (for 1 hr) parking just across the street practically from the base. Totally worth the 10-15m8n drive outside of downtown. Some posh residences along the way indeed.

The posh side of town. The ticket to ride the tram up the hill is only €5 (return). The tram runs every 15 minutes. It's a very short climb. But the view is pretty cool. Try and time the sunset if you can!

The ride itself is just OK not as breathtaking as the snowdonia trip.. But once you go to the top.. Dresden view is quite picturesque and also explore nice idyllic town.

It was good (if you like cable cars), clean and efficient. The trip itself is rather short, few minutes each way. Goes every 15 mins (up and down). Costs EUR 5 for a round trip, there is a cafe at the top and also a great view of the city.

Built 1901 by a mechanics genius, it moves the same pace and beauty since then. Next door cable tram might be the downhill combination

The cafe/lookout at the top is well worth getting to for a beer or coffee. I think you can walk up (stairs) if you're not keen on paying €5 for the funicular. It's a short journey but is definitely worth it for €3 (p/p).
Dresden travel hack: If you're travelling with one other person, or a young family, and using public transport, buy the family day pass for €9 which covers all of Dresden (it almost pays for itself after two trips each). It allows you to then get 2 return Schwebebahn tickets (concession) for €6 euro, instead of €10.
