Selam is one of the very best Ethiopian restaurants that we've ever experienced. That is not praise we give out lightly, as my wife and I have been eating Ethiopian food on a regular basis for going on 30 years and across multiple cities where we've lived or visited including Seattle, where the Ethiopian restaurant options are extremely diverse. Having visited a few times we have been pleased to discover that the quality remains consistently very high. The chicken, beef and lamb used are of exceptionally high quality--none of the grisly stuff that we have often experienced in Ethiopian restaurants--and from talking with Selam (hostess and daughter of the cook), we learned that the restaurant is very picky about where they obtain their ingredients, importing the key spices directly from established sources in Addis Ababa. Selam herself is extremely considerate and attentive. Our discussions with Selam about the food, the music and life in Germany and the US (where she developed fluency in English) have made our visits a special pleasure. Now that we live in Cologne, we look forward to eating here often!

I've been to a few Ethiopian restaurants in different cities (unfortunately not Ethiopia yet) and this matches the standard. Very light and delicious food, which is traditionally eaten with the Ethiopian bread by hand. Plenty of vegetarian options available (not sure about vegan, but I would've thought so). Service was quick, price reasonable and staff friendly.

Went there with my partner, everything from food to service was really pleasant. The st. George lager tasted good and the food was delicious. We need to come back soon to try the rest of the menu. Prices were reasonable so that won’t hold us back either

Very yummy. I had Lega Tibs but with the Karamara source. For starters I had the lentil salad. Staff spoke very good english which is very useful for me as I can't speak german.

Good food, amazing ambience and great hospitality. Do remember to take cash as cards are not accepted (as was in the time of my visit). Will visit again
