The only surviving synagogue in Cologne, originally inaugurated in 1899 and then reconstructed and reopened in 1959. Unfortunately it was closed when I visited. The nearest U-bahn station is Zülpicher Platz.

Magnificently restored synagogue of Cologne

Inside it isn't as interesting as the exteriors. Synagogues are not supposed to be visually as striking as Catholic churches, anyway. To get inside you need to go through the usual security checks, bullet proof windows and stuff, which may put off most tourists.

there is the protocol. You can enter inside only after you get an appointment from the administration person ,you can get online. they are very strict with security and entrance. but from outside it is beautiful building.

Beautiful building but if you want to go inside, call in advance. Take passports as security is strict.
