Quite an experience! Once you sit down, the waiter brings you a glass of cold beer without placing an order. Once you’ve almost finished your first glass, the second is placed on your table. Until you say no or place the paper coaster to cover your glass. The beer is typical Kölsch, which is very refreshing, light, with a subtle sweetness. The food is tasty too. Not too much choices. But the pork knuckle I ordered was crispy outside, tender and juicy inside. Very flavorful and large portion. The price is reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Horribly difficult to get in to. For the absolute best reasons.
This is the only remaining Brauhaus in Cologne. Great cheap beer, proper atmosphere and mind blowing food for a penny.
Couldn't recommend this more. It is the must go to place for beer and food.

This place remains a great experience. Good food and a decent price. Good beer. Great old world setting. We love this place. Very popular so hard to get a table but worth the wait. We got served very quickly but expect to wait or share a table which is a lovely experience in itself and not that usual for us Brits. A must do in Cologne in my view.

Sweating in Summer, too LOOOUD and be sure that someone will FOR SURE be sharing your table at the wish of the waiters. Some crazy people believe that it is a great experience. For me, this is post-COVID syndrome.
In my case, my tiny table was quickly occupied by three local ladies with very loud and ugly voices. I left.
Good luck, Lommy.

Good value for money, and a really great experience. You sit down, get almost imediately brought a glass of kolsch which gets replaced whenever it's empty. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the marbled pork chop was as soft as butter and absolutely huge. Only improvement would be accepting card payment!

Not a great experience. As soon as we arrived we were told we would need to hurry up because they were closing at 3 pm. The food was expensive for what we got. One our party only had 1 bread roll ( the menu said 2) and she could not eat it because it was so overcooked. We were in a hurry to pay because another member of staff again reminded us they were closing. We walked out of the door which was rapidly closed and locked behind us. I then realised we had been short changed by €5. Would not recommend.

There is a waiting time, they will pick you up at the entrance and bring you to a random seat inside. Beer is the best Kölsch because of Päffgen. Food is good but not spectacular. Barkeepers are amazing, they only work as a pair dor the whole place, excluding kitchen's staffs.

The legend itself speaks for the atmosphere.

Cover your glass with the beermat to tell them that you've had enough, otherwise they will just walk and "refill" your glass
