Great hotel if you're looking at doing Cologne on a budget, needs some modernisation in the common areas however actual rooms were always clean and tidy. About one mile from the train station and half a mile from all the best eaterys and bars.

Decent sized room that was comfortable and clean but the bathroom was very small. The shower opened out to the toilet with basically no room to spare. Towels were hanging to dry over the toilet so make sure you close it. The shower temperature kept changing from very hot to slightly cold. Had good Wifi speeds but we had issues with the power. Turned on a light and suddenly lost power to the whole room, only other devices were a phone charging and a small TV. Add the fact that there is nobody working the front desk after 8pm and we had to go find the breaker panel and reset it our selves. The hotel itself was quiet but the street below was not. We had a room facing out onto the street and even with the windows closed, we could still hear the traffic below.

It is hard for me to write a review for this hotel. I have mixed feelings about my stay here.

Pros:

The hotel is in a desirable location. It's close to train stations and you can find parking easily nearby, if you are driving.
The neighborhood near by has lots of location restaurants and a couple of markets.
The neighborhood is quiet and residential.
The price is good
The room has a kitchenette with electric kettle, some dishes, cups, basic utensils, a mini stove
Has hair dryer
Has basic bathroom amenity - a dispenser with a 3-in-1 all purpose shampoo/conditioner/body cleanser

Cons:

The hotel itself is hard to find. It is not obvious that the hotel is on the second floor of a business.
The shower curtain (if you can call it that) is too small and flimsy in material. The first shower that my husband took in this room resulted in a messy pond in the middle of our bathroom before we realized how much more care we needed to put into making sure water does not leak out while we shower
The towels are really flimsy.
Breakfast price is really expensive

The really big con's:

I think in the end, the main driving force for me giving one out of five rating for this property is the staff. The gentleman who checked us in either did not trust us, or had an odd sense of humor. It was hard for me to tell. He asked a lot of questions about where I was coming from, about the credit card I used to pay for the hotel (a Citibank credit card), and how I secured the room rate that I did (via a third party site). I could not tell if he was fascinated by us, or if he thought that we were suspicious folks. I tried to shake it off and chalk it up to cultural differences, but I could not help but felt weirded out during my entire stay here after the exchange at checkin.

In the morning, there were a lot of shouting between the hotel staff. Since the walls are really thin, you could hear every conversation and every person who passed through the walkway. It did not help that we were given a room that was placed essentially closest to the reception area.

There's no DO NOT DISTURB sign for the rooms at this hotel. In the morning, one of the staff knocked on the door to asked to be let in. I opened the door slightly ajar to tell the staff in English that we were not decent. Unfortunately, the staff ,who did not speak English, thought that that was a sign that he should come in and exchange our towels. Hilarity almost ensued (not).

If I ever find myself in Cologne again, I'll probably pay a bit more for a different type of property to stay in.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days. The receptionist was really nice and kind, our room was clean and comfortable. We liked the location of the hotel because it is near to the center of the city.

Receptionist was polite but not friendly or welcoming in any way. But that was still far better than the cleaning lady, whos bad temper sparkled all over the place everytime she passed by the reception or the breakfast room. I am not keen on witnessing staff quarrels.
My room was not small, but overloaded with three beds and no space to put the luggage. Other visitors had a kitchinette, I had none in my room. Only furniture was a TV, that occupied have of the available space of the only table in the room.
I used the only chair in the room, to place my suitcase on, when I retunred in the evening, the suitcase was lying on the floor in another part of the room, with the open side down. It had not fallen, it was placed there deliberately.
In the bed I saw black crumbles, No idea what it was, but it did not seem to be alive.
The bathroom was very smal, the shower curtain too small but worst of all, the toilett was not clean when I moved into the room. After my comlained that was fixed.
The breakfast is very, very basic.
The hotel has no elevator, the rooms are spread over 5 floors, no help with the luggage was offered.
Summary: Not worth the price.

location is good, brekfast is poor, room was very small. Very expensive for whate they offer. Cologne city is taking advantage of the Cologne shows all around the year and hotels are always very expensive. Better to stay out of the city of you can.

85 EUR per night was too much for this. If you get it for under 50 a night and don't have claustrofobia, I guess it's ok if you're not picky. Just don't plan on spending any time awake in the ~6sqm (1 person, personal toilet) room..
