For the tastebuds of eastern asians, German cakes are always too sweet, too heavy, much too dry, and lacking in creativity.
I've been looking for cakes that taste like those back home, and this café hits quite close home all right.

The cakes here are well presented and well baked. They still have somewhat of a homemade look to them, which is in contrast to the overall atmosphere and dreamy look of the interior. However, this café exceeds expectations of what one would usually find in.... Bremen....

Also, although the staff did not speak any english at all, they were still trying their best to help out and explain to customers without being rude and cold, a rare occurrence in Bremen.

10/10 would recommend even for international travellers.

Da wir im Ausland leben, konnten wir keine persönlichen Absprachen halten, trotzdem wurden unsere Erwartungen geschmacklich und vom Aussehen der Torten übertroffen. There were seven of us today at the monthly XXL coffee gossip (aka cake buffet) and everyone was thrilled.
It started with the super-friendly and apparently cheerful staff, continued with excellent coffee (Darboven), tea and juices and culminated in a buffet with around 10 different cakes that cater to all tastes (from the classic chocolate cake to Baileys nuts and cassis calvados with blueberry elderberry there were really great creations, just to name a few) and an apple pie. There were also two different quiches in warm containers, one of which was vegetarian and both were just as delicious as the sweet pieces. All this at a price of around €15 per person makes the offer really unbeatable (not that there is anything comparable in Bremen ;-)
The only catch: this "event series" is paused from June to September, but that only increases the anticipation for autumn and gives the "hip gold" the opportunity to melt away a little ;-)

Waren heute zu siebt beim monatlich stattfindenden XXL-Kaffee-Klatsch (aká Torten-Buffet) und allesamt begeistert.
Das fing beim superfreundlichen und augenscheinlich gutgelaunten Personal an, ging weiter mit exzellentem Kaffee (Darboven), Tee und Säften und gipfelte in einem Buffet mit ca. 10 verschiedenen Torten die alle Geschmäcker bedienen (von der klassischen Schokotorte über Baileys-Nuss und Cassis-Calvados zu Blaubeer-Holunder waren wirklich tolle Kreationen dabei, nur um ein paar zu nennen) und einem Apfelkuchen. Auch zwei verschiedene Quiche im Warmhalte-Behälter waren dabei, von denen eine Variante vegetarisch und beide genau so lecker wie die süßen Stücke waren. Das alles zu einem Preis von rund 15 € pro Person macht das Angebot wirklich unschlagbar (nicht dass es in Bremen auch nur ansatzweise etwas vergleichbares gäbe ;-)
Einziger Haken an der Sache: von Juni bis September pausiert diese "Eventreihe", aber das steigert auch nur die Vorfreude auf den Herbst und gibt dem "Hüftgold" die Möglichkeit, ein wenig wegzuschmelzen ;-)

Optisch sehr schön, leider wurde trotz vorheriger Absprache Marzipan verarbeitet, keine Transportverpackung.
Situation eskalierte vor Ort aufgrund von Anforderung von Verpackung (gerade da es sich um ein Lebensmittel handelt). Nachträglich wurde versucht sie mit Folie zu überdecken, jedoch klebte diese sofort an der Schoko-Fett-Glasur und beschädigte die Torte. Nach Anmerkung kam ein absolut unfreundlicher, rüder Chef dazu, der die Torte zurücknehmen wollte und dann später eine Plastikbox anbot, in einer absolut unverschämten Art, vor anderen Kunden und Hotelgästen. Zwar entschuldigte sich der Chef später telefonisch, was die Sache jedoch nicht ungeschehen macht.
Die nächste Torte wird bei der Konkurrenz bestellt.
