The hotel is not worthy of its 3-Star rating. While the staff are exceptionally friendly/helpful, and the central location fantastic, the overall quality is poor.
Our first room was abysmal. Bed was very old, stained, and burnt by cigarettes. The bed cover was no better, looked about 30 years old and stained. Both matresses were sunken in the middle. More stains on the faux-leather sofa and carpet. A very strong chemical fragrance coming from the bathroom freshener permeated the entire room, and hadn't cleared even after having the windows open for several hours. Bathroom itself was also quite old with tarnished fittings and a shower that didn't drain properly.
We requested that we be moved to a more modern room, and the staff happily obliged. That room was far more comfortable and clean with newer beds and furniture. The bathroom was also a lot better, but the ventilation fan was broken. I was ready to leave a 3-Star ("it's okay") rating here on Google, but on our last night the hot water system broke, leaving only ice cold water to shower with after a full day of hiking through the countryside, so I've decided to give 2-Stars ("disliked it").
I'm thankful for the wonderful staff, but it's with regret that I can't recommend this hotel.
Pros:
+ Very accommodating staff
+ Fantastic location
+ Decent WiFi/W-LAN
+ Free breakfast
Cons:
- Some rooms are very old and dirty
- Lots of very steep stairs
- Can be very noisy late at night with drunk party-goers walking through the city
