Today we went to the museum for the second time and it’s just great. Besides all the underground mining shafts with large machinery and spectacular views from the tower top, there is also a very interesting and informative museum area about the history and future of mining from the Stone Age to today. There is also lots of hands on stuff for kids to do and try out. I’d recommend lots of time, as there is so much to see. I’d also suggest giving the snack area a try, as they have pretty original food for the location, which also tastes well and is priced reasonably. Full recommendation. ????????????????

Fantastic museum! One of the best i've seen during 4 month of my life in NRW. My kids are big fans of big metal vehicle and digging. So it was right place for them. We have spend 4 hours and I could spend more, but kids was overloaded and hungry. Each time when you think that it's the end of exhibition, comes new hall) and that's great. Really enjoyed. Thank you for great job, modern style and special thank you for information in English on every exhibit.

Amazing museum! There is an incredible amount of things to see and it's all very nicely presented. From the big old mining machines to the artworks, everything is worth a look. Student prices are very affordable (5€). I'd definitely recommend the tour of the mine, because it just makes sense... I mean your in a mining museum after all.

The bergbau museum is a pearl. Congratulations to the museum to make such a great exhibition learning about earth's resources. Tip: take the tour to go down in the mine, a unique experience simulating how mine life was with equipment demonstrations and elevator experience. One attention point: only having German tours is not really international, they should do the tours in both languages german and english at the same time. (English only available in the weekend it seems)

The main attraction of the mining museum is the underground tour and the view from the top of the structure. The guide was really friendly and helpful.

I’ll be honest, I arrived too early for a game at VfL Bochum and only ended up at the Mining Museum because I walked past it on my way to find some food. I had really low expectations, but it ended up being one of the best museums I’ve been to. For €5 you can walk through a maze of underground tunnels full of machinery, you can ride the simulator and feel the warmth of an old mine, and you can see the great views over the city from the lookout tower. I could’ve spent longer here, definitely.

It is the largest mining museum in the world, and a renowned research establishment for mining history.
