Enrico is a legend. He gave great advice and is very personable. The six bed dorm is SO nice compared to other hostels I’ve stayed in. The small size of the place is really charming and it’s also tastefully decorated. Great value, great experience.

This is more than just a hostel. Unlike the more industrial sized machines one can stumble into whilst traveling, River Lodge Hostel offers a warm, intimate setting that relaxes you into your stay upon arrival. This begins with the owner of the business, Enrico, a warm, informed and friendly individual. Once you arrive he's there to help assist you with rounded knowledge of the city, and tons of positivism. He understands people, vibes and what travelers are looking for, and always has the required information on hand. The hostel itself is simply, very cool. It's got a homely feel and with around a dozen beds you get to know the people staying in residence. There's plenty of space and awesome Berlin feels. Location wise, it's perfect for those who want to get to know the directions a city moves in, and a sense of place. Situated by a canal that draws people from all over the world to come and hang out, share conversation and a drink as the sun sets, there's a communal sense to the area. The usual amenities are all nearby too, as are plenty of amazing things to do and see. If you like meeting new people, being part of a city and not on the the more usual tourist track (museums, over priced, huge tour groups, etc), stay here. Enrico will be happy to meet you :) David

Absolutely my favourite hostel, the beds are social with their own living area. With wardrobe separated with a curtain for privacy from other occupants. The owner was unbelievably helpful even walking with me to give me directions when I was lost. The area is great for a more indie vibe. Lots of cool eateries and bars. Easily found due to the location near the river. Felt very safe and relaxed. Excellently priced too.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Stayed here a couple of times over the years and it's always such a calming experience. Enrico is just such a warm and lovely guy and the place itself feels like a friendly share house rather than a hostel. There's no reception desk and you won't encounter staff there very often, so it feels like coming and going from your own home by the river.

Bathrooms are immaculately clean, huge locker storage with hangers, comfy beds and fast wifi. Easy transport, shops and restaurants in every direction and a market along the river every Tuesday and Friday with bands and plenty of different characters around. As has been said below, if you're looking to feel more at home rather than the usual tourist experience this is your place.

Great vibe hostel. Clean and comfortable. Spacious and well located. As well as a very nice host welcoming you to Berlin in the nicest way.

Tip: Remember to confirm your entry time at least 24h prior arrival!

Stayed here a while ago, but still impressed. Hostel was clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable and private for a hostel. The people that had stayed there were also very interesting. Employees had great recommendations for places to visit.

Great hostel. Short walk to the train station. Only downside is that they have limited check-in hours, but the owner is very flexible and willing to coordinate a late check-in. Each bed has a curtain, so that was nice. Would definitely stay again.
