Although the food is pretty good it is overshadowed by bad service. Service so bad that it stands out even by Berlin standards.
The problem is not with the service people, which were nothing but professional. But from the ''Boss'' himself. His repulsive behavior which I could only imagine as coming from a personal entitlement and a firm belief that the clients are nothing but dumb wallets that should just stop interrupting him and just follow his arrogant lead blindly.
If you are looking to eat above average food that will be shadowed by repulsive behavior look no further than Café Jacques!

It was both great and ..not so great!
The waiters seemed friendly and charming, and at other moments quite the opposite.
Some of the food (lamb) was amazing. Salad was good too. Other food (fish plate) had a surprisingly tasteless and watery fish, and the rice was old an dry... not just a bit, but really shockingly badly so.
And the location was great.
So all in all it was a confusing experience. Some good, some bad, but for the price there was clearly too little good and too much bad.

I keep coming back to Jacques but overall I am never fully satisfied with the experience somehow.

I just had the chicken with potato and it was OK, my partner had the ravioli with a bland tasting salad which was meh.

One thing I really don’t understand is how a French restaurant can have such bad bread (2nd round of bread was even dry).

Friendly staff!

Overall not a clear opinion but today I felt like I wasted 60€ for a dinner for two.

Terrible experience, the owner was really rude to us. Despite having put extra costs in the final receipt he did not apologize and indeed criticized us for not having ordered more drinks. Absolutely not recommended.

Drinks are fine, basic meals are okay, atmosphere is good, but main courses are awful. We had two main courses, and both were somewhere between awful and meh

Amazing food, delicious wine - an excellent place to spend a whole afternoon in the terrace.
