Motion*s is certainly the most divers and most welcoming dance school in Berlin with one of the broadest offers in classes and styles. However, I’m sad that the standard and quality of many courses have dropped quite a bit in the last year or so. Where there were high-profile instructors, often well established masters of their styles, there are now a lot of twenty-somethings teaching classes, who just don’t bring the same level of expertise and teaching quality (especially if you yourself are not a teenager anymore). In the last two years I saw at least 4-5 great instructors leave. Merely the Jazz and Ballet classes have stayed relatively consistent. Unfortunately those have also fallen prey to the “USC-syndrome”, though. Because of providers like Urban Sports Club there is so much rotation and random drop-ins that instructors seem often forced to lower the level and explain everything from the basis, especially in the beginner and intermediate classes, which is super frustrating and hindering for the regular students.
I hope this will improve again and the school will shift its focus back on experienced, adept instructors, so all the dancers above 25 feel comfortable too
