I vividly remember when this place opened in 1997, right in time for the 1998 Soccer World Cup in France. The store was soccer-themed, had a bunch of devoted employees, and a store manager that kicked arse.
Why do I remember that? Because I was one of the first employees there. Decent job for a student, back then.
Today, I'm driving down memory lane and visiting this McD in one of Berlin's troubled neighborhoods. It's been almost 20 years and it's somewhat... shocking.
They got rid of the drive-thru. The restaurant looks plain and abandoned. Two bored employees are running the whole show. Moreover, the burgers taste like crap.
Sounding like an old grumpy man but - things were really better back in the day.
