Original Chinese food. As i was in several Trips in China i can assure that most of the food is really like original Chinese food. I love the biang biang noodles with garlic chili and egg which has a quite hot taste but not too extrem. I already look forward to the Next visit

I LOVED my Biang Biang Noodles (hand-pulled spicy noodles - no soup)! Super authentic Sichuan dish. I got small and it was a good potion for me. My partner ordered large but it definitely did not look like large for us and he was really hungry after his noodle soup, plus some of mine and some dumplings. The waiter (maybe manager?) was very kind and helpful but the waitress was super rude.. thus the rating. I'd go back there anyday for Biang Biang noodles though!

Finally made it here, one of the Chinese places Berlin foodies have been raving about for a while now. And I am moved to ask: what are you smoking?

Don't get me wrong: this is pretty good Chinese cooking and certainly much better than your average "Ente kross" place. But did I find any of the food exciting? No.

Had some cucumbers with garlic and vinegar, and some braised beef in chili oil as starters and the biang biang mian – noodles with garlic and chili oil – as the main. Had too ask the waitress for some extra chili oil and emptied the entire thing into my bowl to get the noodles to something approaching the level of what you'd be served with as a fairly tame bowl in Sichuan. Alas, the whole thing seemed underseasoned even after (too afraid to use a little crystalline MSG?). Moreover, while I liked the fact that the noodles were freshly made, thick and had quite a bit of chew to them, I thought they were ultimately too thick for the chili oil to come through enough.

This will do in a pinch. For something much better though, head to Shaniu in Wilmersdorf.

Two addenda:

Found out from some Chinese people sitting next to me that there is a Chinese menu that features dishes not on the German menu. When asked, the waitress told me she'd been trying to find out for a while what those dishes were exactly but had been told by her boss that they were for Chinese people only. "You don't read Chinese?" I asked? "I'm not Chinese at all!" she replied. I want my offal!

I'm amused that "knusprige Ente" is such a German thing that Chinese places find themselves unable to convey that concept in English and therefore simply don't translate it.

The service is polite but bad organized and not focused on the customers - my order was taken by another waitress to another table so I was waiting more almost 45 minutes and nobody noticed these mistake and that I am waiting so long despite the fact that restaurant was quite empty...also when I finished the waitress didn’t come for another 15 minutes... and for the bill I was waiting another 10 minutes so to eat a dinner there I need more than 1 hour...I have ordered fried eggplant which was ok (literally fried eggplant pieces in the spice brew with a lot of chili- very spicy) but the rice (in Chinese restaurant!) wasn’t fresh boiled- it was sticky and dry at one side... in general I had poor experience there and I won’t go there again :(

Made in China

Set in Shanghai in the 1950’s incorporates a Singaporean decor of Chinese Dai Pai Dongs, so I would not be surprised if it belongs to any of the other infamous Vietnamese restaurants near Rosenthaler Str.

Authenticity 1/5

To be fair the Cha Siu Pork gets a pass for Berlin standards , sort of what you would be able to get in a cheap fast food restaurant in Hong Kong .

All other dishes lack of authenticity and taste . The shrimp dim sum are definitely out of a frozen bag, you can taste processed meat, the same goes for the Shanghaiese xiao long bao.

Ambient 3/5

Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area it does a better job in creating a decent atmosphere perfect for a date or a relaxed time with friends or a business lunch .

Price / Value 1/5
Definitely a no-go. 59 Euro for two people.
But not many options in Mitte for Chinese food anyway , so if you’re craving for Chinese food or a simple business lunch then give a try but not missing anything .

Service : 1/5
Despite the menu being in Cantonese my waiter u0026 waitress could not speak it .

I ordered Dan Dan Noodles and got Wonton Noodles . I understand that the Dan could be confused with the “Tan” in the German word Wan-Tan . Ha ha .

Finally Chinese food! And the Szechuan pepper was so nice. Plus the bao! And the green beans! Just wish their dessert menu was larger bc I miss Chinese desserts (buns, cakes, etc).
