Super cool space with different activities for younger kids. My little one had a blast. The staff is very friendly, which is quite rare for Berlin. Great experience!

Very nice place, it is not a museum as one would expect, but there are many activities for kids to do like different sections for different crafts. Theres also a maze in which the kids can climb up, a small mirror maze and lots and lots of kids books.

The kids had so much fun. I would recommend this place.

Very child-friendly activity, where there are many things to touch, play with etc. You have to understand German to get the most out of the place, as many signs are only in German. Also a large part of the place is books and little places and "caves" to sit and read, but only usable if you can read German!

A huge play and climbing area where the children can spend a lot of time. Also several activities - e.g. you can make your own soap. Unfortunately the cafe was closed, or we would have stayed a little longer. The only place we visited in Berlin where facemasks are still mandatory, and it seemed they were a bit "corona scared" in this place.

This is a very well thought out, unstructured environment for kids, starting with some mirrors, puppet show setup, a vertical labyrinth, a crafts setup and books and seating areas all across.

A big chunk of your experience would be related to what you expect though. If the kids are looking for constant stimulation they may get bored after 1 - 1.5 hours.

In my case, my daughter who is more interested in crafts was enjoying the pace, whereas my son, who who loved it for a little more than an hour, of trying all the activities, started getting a little bored.
Overall, I thought it was a very well planned and executed place, but didn't really come across as a museum per se. Gprobably would be better if 4-5 kids going together, and ones who enjoy a more unstructured and slower pace.

I have a year card and Machmit is pretty much an indoor playground for my nearly 3 toddler where he can get his energy out. Berlin rains a lot during winter and he has a lot of energy. Instead of bouncing off the walls at home he gets to do the vertical labyrinth at machmit which is a brilliant design albeit a bit of a struggle for us accompanying big people that have to follow our little Indiana Jones kids through it. So generally I think a lot of bad reviews here are probably parents that expected more of a either a traditional children’s museum where you have like 20 stations with activities or a bounce house. Machmit is neither and both. At the heart of Machmit is a mix of structured and unstructured play. There are plenty of spaces but most of them are open to interpretation and need input from parents. As kids become more familiar with the space play becomes more unstructured, and self designed. I see older children play group games in the labyrinth and my son comes to visit certain stations like an old familiar blanket, even says hi to certain cut out monsters like he’s friendly with them and changes his interaction each time. So my encouragement to parents is that come here in the beginning as a tool of engagement with your child not as somewhere where they can just be entertained while you sit in the corner and scan your cellphone and it can be really rewarding. For my son, I see as he gets familiar with the space he is learning confidence in his bodies abilities to move and cooperation with other kids and learning how to share spaces with others, while designing his own form of imaginative play. Plus the church is just a unique and beautiful setting and there’s something weirdly comforting Harry potteresque about it. It’s a place that begs for you to share your imagination with your child and vice versa, like a half drawn sketch that needs you to complete. And in that respect it’s worth getting the year card.

Fun for the kids! Lots of staff to help out with painting, button making and printing. And I don't think I've ever seen a place more Berlin then this :) Everything is second hand, re-used and everything in the cafe is organic. And there is beer!
