Since I recently moved back to Berlin and am looking for a new nice fitness studio in my neighbourhood to go to, I arranged a trial training session at the John Reed Women's Club. The facility is beautiful, but small with little variety of equipment and was incredibly packed.

I arrived at the reception and was shown around by a member of staff. However what was very shocking to me was the fact that the trial session costs 20 (!) Euros, which I would only get returned if I would decide for a membership the same day - not even another day to think about and make up my mind...Additionally to this I was not informed to bring my own towel to the trial session and was charged another 2 Euros for it...It didn't really feel that the studio is in need for new customers and can be quiet unfriendly to new potential members and tries to rip them off wherever they can. Too bad, as I will definitely look for other options and spend my money elsewhere.

4 stars for the facility, but 0 for the offer and incredibly unfriendly service.

I’ve been a member for a few months and have absolutely no complaints. The spa area is great and the staff is really friendly and proactive. The equipments are modern and very clean/organized.

The idea of an all women’s gym is amazing, as well as the aesthetics of the studio. There are a lot of extras included (although I would expect this for the membership price), such as terrace, pool and hairstyling tools. Only problem is that the gym has way too little equipment. With lifting getting more popular among women, two racks for everything, two benches, one cable tower and only one machine of each kind it’s basically impossible to have a proper waiting session on a weekday afternoon. I know that the club is emptier in the morning hours, but please keep in mind that majority of the members have a 9-5 or are students who just don’t have the possibility to visit the gym at any other time. An extension would be more than needed. Staff is very competent and friendly.

I have signed up for a free trial class, did it once and was asked by a lady at a reception if I would like to sign up for a membership. I said not, did not sign anything and did not receive a membership card.
Several month later it turns out John Reed has been charging me for the membership.
Apparently, signing up for a trial is automatically signing you up for a membership.
Turned out that you can’t cancel the membership at the gym. Tried to contact the customer service, the only channel they have is email, and they are not responding for 10 days.
They have very shady ways of working, on the edge of a fraud.

Fancy looking but poorly designed training room, if you do weight training (squat, bench press, deadlift etc.) or you are focused on glute training you will have a very hard time finding available equipment at almost every hour. There are just 2 (two!!) benches in the whole gym for example. Kids club (accessible with the most expensive membership) is in a beautiful space with very nice teachers but EXTREMELY poorly organized. Hours keep changing, you should book it in the app but the app doesn't reflect the actual opening hours so you won't be able to be sure whether you can go or not, days already booked get cancelled often (already twice in less than 3 weeks) and once even at the mornign for the afternoon. Hours changes every month but they aren't published in advance. I would NOT recommend subscribe here for prize they are asking for the space and services provided.

After Covid it is not the same place. Kids club is a joke. Opening hours have reduced to more than half, and they employ some part time students who have no clue about children. That is when they do not call in sick... You can end up with more than 7 other moms waiting here for a spot. Don't try to write an email asking about more opening hours because they will not reply. Don't try to ask reception anything regarding kids club because they reply with and I quote " It is not my job, you can write an email to this address" Imagine convincing and dressing your two small kids to go to the gym's kids club to end up with nobody being there or it being full or someone who has no clue about kids. Very sad to see such poor management. I really enjoyed going here BEFORE covid.

The girls on the reception are unprofessional, trying to sell you bed service for big money. First they say it cost one amount after talking with “manager “ and laughing about discount “just for me”
Like in turkish market.
