Nice hostel with huge rooms. Very clean bed linen and bathrooms. In 5 Euro they give nice breakfast. Yea u0026 Coffee is complimentary 24*7. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also very economic and near all the monuments.

A nice hostel. Even In the megadorm I was comfortable. Many staff members lovely and helpful. One staff member in particular was very rude. He seemed to have no problem picking on me and my friends. I observed him doing it to others. When you run a hostel in Berlin you should expect people coming home in the early morning from clubs. He continued to shake his head condescendingly and hush us even though we were being quiet. It was hard to be relaxed when he was watching constantly. I was sitting outside in the evening getting air with one friend barely talking and this staff member came out to tell us to go inside and be quiet. Keep in mind I was not talking. Then when I was in bed there were a bunch of men outside in the courtyard laughing loudly and shouting. For bare minimum it was okay.

The hostel is very well located nearby the historical spots of the city. Metro, tram and train station just a minutes walk.
The mega dorm has 20 beds! The beds are comfy although there is no curtains so the light wakes you up early.
Vibes and hostel overall are cool. There is no kitchen if you want to cook, so consider that (many takeaways around).
Breakfast is good.

Slept in the 8 bed mixed room for 30€/night during July, so super cheap. Room and bathrooms were clean, staff were very helpful and informative. Overall a real pleasant stay for such a cheap room. Everything big is within a 15 min tram/metro ride and theres a lot of good restaurants in the area. There are lockers in the rooms, but no lockers in the common area, only backpack chains.

Where to begin... when we arrived to the hostel, the receptionist was rude and dismissive, and immediately double charged us, because he didn't realize we had booked it online despite us telling him multiple times. Annoying, but he apologized, and the man at the end was apologetic... so take that with a grain of salt.
Although, the interior of the hostel is gross. We have been traveling across Europe, and this was the worst hostel we stayed in.
The bathrooms smelled like urine and there was hair everywhere. Beds do not come with outlets nor lights, which at this point, is pretty unacceptable. (you had to share one outlet with your bunk mate)...
If you're looking for the bare minimum, this is it, but I really would not recommend this stay to anyone. Each hostel we went to after, we continually discussed how worse Heart of Gold was compared to others.
We really wanted to like it and it seemed to have good energy just overall extremely disappointed despite the high rating.

Really nice hostel, very calm since it doesn't make events like pub crawls.

I came with my uncle and some days he had to work which is why we chose this place.

Bathrooms were clean enough but you should bring flip flops anyways.

Rooms were also fine, you gotta make your own bed upon arrival.

Cash deposit of €5 for keycard and €10 for lock if you don't have your own.

Summary: Adequate hostel, but BED BUGS, BED BUGS, and more BED BUGS!!

I don’t know where to start with this hostel. they offer the basics, a bed with bathrooms and not much more for an incredibly high price, definitely not worth it. I booked it based on its reviews and was really looking forward to it. No tours, no crawls or activities. What a disappointment, but here’s what was worse than everything else.

After waking up on the first night, I found a few red bumps on my arm and legs, thinking it was just mosquito bites I ignored them.

Second days was much much worse!

Dozens of red bumps that itch and many of them were 3 bumps in a straight line, which is indicative of bed bugs. My arms and legs were covered by them. I couldn’t even wear jeans it was so bad.

By the last day, I couldn’t feel anything but itchiness, bed bug bites all over.

I spoke with the night reception who seems to take the matter a little seriously and moved me into a new room. He said they will look for bed bugs ASAP.

The morning reception was completely different. He said no they didn’t have any, but he said they looked for bed bugs but didn’t find anything.

I asked if they would be able to at least wash my clothes to kill any of the bugs, which they did reluctantly, only to return my washed clothes still wet in a garbage bag. Thanks.

What they don’t know is that I looked for bed bugs in the seams of the bed/mattress and pillows and found them before reporting to reception. If me, an untrained, professional that doesn’t even work in hospitality can find bed bugs, then they have a massive infestation.

I returned to my original room with the bed bugs only to find the cleaners have already prepped the bed for a new customer.

Cherry on top was the receptionist said it wasn’t the hostels fault… Well then, who’s fault is it? Your beds have bed bugs…

So please, what ever you do, please please don’t stay here due to the bed humbugs and the risk of spreading bed bugs to your home. It is a nightmare.
