We were looking for a traditional restaurant and found the Berliner. I was surprised to see that all the workers were Asian bur The food was very good. We had the pork knuckles which was huge. Enough for 2 people. The Service was slow but once we iexeeed the food came out fast and hot. I asked for German wine like a Riesling and they didn’t have any. Then i asked for any German wine and they didn't have any to my surprise. The only wines by the glass that they had were Italian bubbly’s, French and Spanish! I thought i was in Germany!!! Not sure I’d go back because i really didn’t get the German experience i was looking for especially with a name like the Berliner!

Three weeks ago I was visiting Berlin and lost my friends on our way to a club. I stumbled into "Der Berliner" shortly after looking for somewhere to sit until I could get in touch with my friends. Upon entering I was greeted with a welcoming atmosphere. I had a couple of beer and made friends with some locals from the bar. I ended up staying for 5 hours and drinking with the locals guest who made me feel completely welcome. The bartender was cool, he even made me a special cocktail that wasn't on the menu but was really good. I'd definitely say, if you're in Berlin, Der Berliner is definitely worth a visit
