BIKINI Berlin ist das wandlungsfähigste und m.E. das formschönste Schoppingzentrum Berlins, - hier wirkt das Schoppen beinahe zweitrangig. Die wechselnden Ausstellungen und bis auf das kleinste Detail durchdachten Dekorationskonzepte einzelner Geschäfte stehen miteinander in Konkurrenz. Allein die Lage könnte nicht besser sein: man kommt von der geschichtsträchtigen Gedächtniskirche rein und hat den grössten unbezahlten Panoramablick auf die Zoo-Tiere. Man sitzt vor diesem gigantischen Fenster in einem der drei zentral liegenden Cafes und schlürft seinen Cappuccino oder liegt auf der fast 10-meter-langen Fensterbank um sich mal auszustrecken. Wegen all der bunten Kissen auf dieser Fensterbank wirkt es etwas fernöstlich und zugleich alternativ-robust... spätestens, wenn man an dem riesigen Massivholztisch sitzt. Holzelemente, v.a. die breite zum Sitzen einladende Treppe und die dunkelgrünen Stahlträger dominieren die Architektur des Hauses und verleihen den Verkaufsboxen etwas zerbrechlich-spielerisches. Von der Mitte der Erdgeschossebene hat man ungehinderten Blick bis zu den Dachträgern. Majestätisch und urban, konsum- und ernährungsbewusst, alternativ und modern, düster und strahlend, - all dies findet man hier in bezaubernder Harmonie.
