When I was in Germany recently, I remembered the kebab shop on the weekend. The last time I was around 2009 was with my ex. We sat outside in the summer and ate quite well there. Nothing special, Turkish cuisine is just "simple". But you can hardly go wrong with meat, salad and various sauces.

I was there yesterday. After an apparent bankruptcy of the previous owner, the very nice Turkish landlord has found a new tenant.

What can I say. The portion was large, the Erdinger tasted like an Erdinger (Unertl would be a better choice) and the shop made a clean impression. I didn't visit the toilet.

A previous reviewer wrote something about cartilage. I can not confirm that. But that the doner kebab was probably from the previous day and therefore tough. A little was saved with the sauces, but not with the meat. Possibly a sign that it just had to go. Maybe just buy smaller skewers in the future or make them yourself.

Anyway, I ate well, and even eleven hours later I had no abdominal pain or diarrhea.

What annoyed me personally was the fact that the waitress hardly spoke German. Pardon, but as a German with an obvious migration background, I expect a German-speaking service even in a kebab shop.

But there is no deduction for this shortcoming. It's just a well-meaning hint for better integration.

Ich war schon als Schüler dort, als wir im Café Creme unsere Abende verbrachten, bevor wir in die Arena oder nach DDorf in die Bhaggy fuhren. Bald kratze ich die 50 und lebe die meiste Zeit in Kroatien auf der wunderschönen Insel Lošinj. Dort gehe ich täglich aus zum Essen, weil es so preiswert ist. Mit ca. 20 EUR für ein ordentliches MIttagessen und drei Bier komme ich dort gut aus.

Als ich kürzlich in Deutschland war erinnerte ich mich am Wochenende an die Dönerbude. Da war ich zuletzt ca. 2009 mit meiner Ex. Wir saßen im Sommer draußen und aßen dort recht gut. Nichts Besonderes, türkische Küche ist halt einfach "einfach". Aber mit Fleisch, Salat und diversen Saucen kann man kaum etwas falsch machen.

Gestern war ich nun dort. Nach einer offenbaren Pleite des Vorinhabers hat die sehr nette türkische Vermieterin einen neuen Pächter gefunden.

Was soll ich sagen. Die Portion war groß, das Erdinger schmeckte wie ein Erdinger nun mal so schmeckt (Unertl wäre die bessere Wahl) und der Laden machte einen sauberen Eindruck. Die Toilette habe ich nicht besucht.

Ein vorheriger Rezensent hat was von Knorpel geschrieben. Das kann ich so nicht bestätigen. Wohl aber, dass der Dönerspieß vermutlich vom Vorvortag war und daher entsprechend zäh. Mit den Saucen wurde ein wenig gespart, mit dem Fleisch hingegen nicht. Möglicherweise ein Zeichen dafür, dass es einfach weg musste. Vielleicht künftig einfach kleinere Spieße kaufen oder selbst machen.

Wie auch immer, ich habe brav aufgegessen und auch elf Stunden danach weder Bauchschmerzen noch Durchfall.

Was mich persönlich genervt hat, war die Tatsache, dass die Bedienung kaum Deutsch sprach. Pardon, aber ich als Deutscher mit offensichtlichem Migrationshintergrund erwarte selbst in einer Dönerbude eine deutschsprachige Bedienung.

Aber für dieses Manko gibt es keinen Punkt Abzug. Es ist nur ein wohl gemeinter Hinweis in Sachen besserer Integration.

Für die Zukunft jedenfalls von Herzen gutes Gelingen. Und vielleicht mal eine weibliche Hand an das leicht unterkühlte Innendesign ran lassen.
