For a special occasion dinner at 5 is sublime. I love the food, the presentation, the service, how you have the table reserved for the rest of the evening without having people coming and going the entire time. I am swoon by this restaurant. Edit to add that breakfast at 5 is equally perfect at a fraction of the dinner cost. Definitely a must try.

5 Restaurant Review/Experience
Stuttgart, Germany
4 Dec 2021

This is my second Michelin star restaurant I have been to. The first in Prague was amazing and as I enjoy reviewing my experience with normal restaurants and businesses, why not try some of the best in the world. This restaurant is pretty close to where I live so I decided to try here first.

Very similar to the other Michelin restaurant, the markings/advertisment of the restaurant are very miniscule and I have actually walked by it many times and never knew it was there.

First I was contacted after reserving that they would prefer me to come 15 minutes early for seating, COVID check, and a drink before going to the restaurant. I selected the lemonchello and prosecco for my drink. A little bitter, sour, sweet, and bubbly, but overall a pleasant drink. I then was instructed on how it works which is very similar to other locations, but they wanted to know if they can surprise me since I don't have any food allergies. A welcome experience I must say and hopefully they can live up to that. I chose the 5 course meal with accompanying wine. This includes 3 appetizers and a desert which I chose the cheese based pear option.

I went upstairs for the dinner and was greeted by a three piece appetizers where the first what the hanging truffle which was super salty and I honestly wanted to spit it out but finished none the less. Next was the black praline which had a very meaty taste and texture but rich as well. Lastly was the oyster style one which I as very similar to the last but with an edible outside cookie style holder.

From here on out I won't be giving a review of the food as it may be a bit difficult to put into words.

Overall I think most of the dishes were amazing except for the fish dish. The fish had almost no flavor except the skin on top.

Recommendation
Obviously a Michelin star restaurant is an experience most do not partake in but does imply a many things. Great service and delicious food. My only issue is I expected more diversity in flavors and not so much where each dish compliments each other. I definitely recommend and will be trying again once the menu changes.

Amazing from start to finish. Service, ambiance, and the food.... wow!! Well deserving of their Michelin star! A must if you're in Stuttgart!

We got an okay welcome at Restaurant 5. Serving staff of various quality, clearly some very unexperienced staff mixed with seniors.

The way the food was prepared was very impressive, they clearly have an excellent chef in the kitchen. Bouillabaisse to start with -given the rich flavour of this beautiful first course it would have been nice if the kitchen had served us an amuse first - and it was the best dish of the evening! After that risotto, cod and then chicken breast. The preparations of these dishes was all really good, but the ingredients were not very exciting, resulting in average dishes. I would expect more exquisite ingredients with
a bill of EUR 400 for a dinner for two. We missed the special feeling that we have with most Michelin star establishments. Dessert (shortbread/passionfruit) was good.

The interioir of the restaurant is very black and a bit outdated. So are the toilets - they is a very strong urine smell like the free toilets along the Autobahn have. Again substandard for a Michelin star restaurant.

Overall a bit of a disappointing feeling and I would not recommend friends to visit this place.

I came on Tuesday night and did the tasting menu paired with wine. The wines all matched their meals perfectly. Even when a wine was one that I do not generally drink (there was a Riesling that had the hint of het fuel) the combination worked wonderfully. The service was top notch! If you are in stuttgart and looking for a great meals and excellent service in the main square area … this is the place.
