The university / palace is beautiful. Unfortunately it was closed on Sunday. There is beautiful park around where one can sit for picnic or just a walk.

The environment is nice and clean. Comfortable seats for reading and huge collection of books. Everybody is allowed to come inside and read books in a silent place.

Very nice location! The building itself is used for other purposes like a university and tax office, but the surrounding environment looks great. The botanical garden is a must see!

Use dedicated parking facilities, otherwise difficult. More than adequate Corona safety measures. Reception easy and friendly staff. Gefäß Chirugie Departement totally friendly, polite, professional, effizient. Can't ask for more.

A very attractive place to study at a university that narrowly missed getting"excellency"status in a recent report on academic standards at top universites.Münster is a very "comfortable" place to study with a vibrant night life for students.Finding suitable and affordable accommadation in central parts of Münster is very difficult. However living and studying in Münster is difficult to beat. The locals are pleasant enough but being from Westfalen is just a tiny bit different than say being from the Rheineland!!!The proof of the pudding is.........!The University is top.Mr.Wessels(the boss)is ruthlessly efficient and very demanding. He knows what he wants and normally gets what he wants. However graduates of Münster University are highly sought after.

My university from 1980 to 1986. It should be actually named after Maximilian Franz, the last 'Fürstbischof', who never saw it finished.

With more than 43,000 students and over 120 fields of study in 15 departments, it is Germany's fifth largest university and one of the foremost centers of German intellectual life. The university offers a wide range of subjects across the sciences, social sciences and the humanities. Several courses are also taught in English, including PhD programmes as well as postgraduate courses in geoinformatics, geospational technologies or information systems.

Professors and former students have won ten Leibniz Prizes, the most prestigious as well as the best-funded prize in Europe, and one Fields Medal. The WWU has also been successful in the German government's Excellence Initiative.

The university has its roots in the Münster's Jesuit College (Jesuiten-Kolleg Münster), founded in 1588, and the convent of lay sisters Liebfrauen-Überwasser, founded in 1040, of which it took its seal. The convent was dissolved in 1773, so that its funds could be used to found the University of Münster on 16 April 1780.

Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany, Name giver of the University of Münster
In 1631, Pope Urban VIII and Emperor Ferdinand II issued privileges, allowing the establishment of a university in Münster. However, due to a lack of funding, they were only put to use in 1780, when the modern University of Münster was founded with four faculties: Law, Medicine, Philosophy and Theology.[4]

In 1843, it was renamed to Royal Theological and Philosophical Academy (Königliche Theologische und Philosophische Akademie),[4] informally Münster . The university received its current name from Emperor Wilhelm II on 22 August 1907.[4]
