Just picket up a meal from this wonderful place. Our friends whom we just visited, order out here quite regularly. They have small kids so can't stay out long. But every time we passed by Picknick, the place seemed cheerful and full outside, which made us curious. whenever we walked by.
When after many years I ordered a takeaway meal, not everything was in stock. They were closing.. For the holidays or a make over, I thought, like many restaurants in NL do over summer.
When I came back to pick up the order (we had to put the little one to bed) I learned that I had misunderstood. Unfortunately due to the long and many lockdowns, they were now, after the peek seems to have finally passed, forced to close down. It also turned out that tonight was their last night of service .. I left speechless.
Back in our room, the food however, was impeccable. We shared a delicious and very juicy Hähnchenburger and a schweineschnitzel mit bratkartoffeln und salat. All packed up perfectly! They even managed to prepare the bratkartoffeln they thought was finished.
The woman who helped me was sweet, but packed with emotion. Doing what she loved, knowing it's the last night of service.
I hope however it is not, and they can either find a way to continue their business, by some miracle(investor) or to spread their joy and passion elsewhere. The food we ate was delicious, prepared with skill and passion. Thank you so much!!
