The Wittelsbach Bridge , named after the Bavarian royal family of Wittelsbach , is an arch bridge over the Isar in Munich . The Wittelsbach Bridge connects the Isarvorstadt on the left bank of the Isar with the Au and Untergiesing on the right bank of the Isar. The wooden factory footbridge used in the construction of the Braunau railway bridge was rebuilt at this location after completion in 1871 as a temporary crossing of the Isar. From 1875 there was an iron framework construction between two bridge portals, built by August von Voit . The concrete bridge was built in 1904 as part of the bridge construction program offered by the company Sager u0026 Woerner . Theodor Fischer was responsible for the external design of the bridge, while Sager u0026 Woerner was responsible for the design and construction.
