Anyone who has spent any time in Germany quickly discovers the importance of cake. In a country where the chain bakeries have seemed to take over 90% of the businesses, it’s a relief and a delicious pleasure to find an old bakery doing things correctly and by hand like Cafe Herrdegen. 175 Years and counting they’ve been doing it right, always succeeding in delivering quality, large portions and affordable prices. Don’t be dismayed by other reviews stating the “expensive” aspect. Feel happy that you’re supporting local bakers making fresh products that insure the continued tradition of high quality handmade cakes and baked goods. For an extra .50c I think that’s something we can all get behind. If you cannot, take your pick of chain bakeries serving sub par baked and frozen cakes from elsewhere in the city. For a great experience go to Cafe Herrdegen.
