Terrible experience! We arrived 5 minutes past 7 in the evening, after having cycled for more than 100 km. The reception was only just closed, and when calling the provided number, nobody answered. We couldn’t find anyone responsible so pitched our tent in the tent area, and plannend on checking in / paying in the morning. After all of our bike bags were unpacked and our tent was up, suddenly someone from the campsite passed and asked if we had checked in. We said no and said we would like to, but we got a very rude response: ‘ABBRECHEN!’ We were very surprised and asked why we couldn’t stay and where we should go to. We had to leave because we weren’t officially checked in according to Corona regulations. There was plenty of space surrounding us so that couldn’t be the issue. We understand that regulations are important and we respect them, but the only real problem was this man’s unbelievable attitude. He didn’t provide any ideas whatsoever (he literally said it wasn’t his problem) where we could go that evening (it was already 7:30 pm) and only identified himself as ‘the big boss’ by showing a bunch of keys. Even worse: whilst shouting at us that we had to hurry up with breaking up our tent, he was making fun of us together with some other campers. This man singlehandedly ruined our stay at Lichtenfels!
