Spent a few days alongside the Tiessenkai, waiting to pass through the Kiel Canal, and the Schiffercafé was the favourite restaurant in the area, of mine and the crew. Im not a seafood fan, but my colleagues report that the mussels are delicious, and the non-seafood dishes they serve are excellent. The beer is cheap and not unpalatable, the staff are friendly and speak a degree of English, which is exceptionally useful when my limited German ran out.

Such a pleasant and sweet place with friendly staff and simple, basic, but well prepared food.
Nice ambience both inside and outside.
Prices are fair. Nice view. Worth a visit.

Pretty slow service. Hurry up and wait seems to be the staffs motto. Acitive listening is a skill that could be greatly improved.

Fish was delicious. They don't have potato salad to go with it.

Right on the canal, its a cute little place for a coffee and cake break. Smoking outside was disappointing
