Quality stay. I stayed at this hostel for about 3 days while visiting Documents 15 at Kassel and was satisfied with everything provided.
The hostel has options for rooms that can be chosen, but I got a shared room with a very comfortable bunk bed. The bathroom had good facilities along with available hot water. The hostel also provided breakfast with alot of different options, and some vegan one too.
The hostel is in a quiet location and perfect if you want to relax, but at the same time not too far away from the city where shops are available for purchase.

Quality Stay with Excellent Customer Service

My university’s study abroad group was here for Documenta 15, and I couldn’t have asked for a better hostel experience. The facilities are nice, with options for different sized rooms. There is a cool outdoor area for ping pong, and it is only a couple blocks away from a bus stop to Kassel HBF, a great restaurant and a great cafe. Dinner and breakfast are provided in excellent quantity.

What stood out as exceptional was the customer service, who were extremely accommodating to requests for information, room changes, etc. They went above and beyond by providing bags and sandwich paper to our group, allowing us to pack lunches from the breakfast buffet to take on the train on the last day. They were kind and conversational, making for an extremely pleasant experience.

The only note I have is that only one key is provided per room, which sometimes makes things difficult to coordinate. The key is also attached to a 5-inch metal rod, which can be inconvenient to carry. Overall, however, would recommend!

The hostel is located with some restaurants and locations nearby, and the noise from the tracks is rarely noticeable, which is a plus. The overall appearance of the building is great, the interior of the entrance hall, reception and dining area feels modern and clean. Bathrooms are public/in their own rooms (for group bedrooms, at least) but very spacious and clean as well. The same can’t be said for the bedroom, which was in our experience very old looking, complete with weird shapes and extra walls added to the bunk beds, some of which squeak when only touched and they have some rather old-looking outlets. As this is the only part of the hostel that doesn’t have the modern-ish look, one may hope that the next step is to renovate those rooms. Staff was very down-to-earth and kind, breakfast was fine.

This hostel is not bad, but it could be a lot better with very little effort. They offer all-you-can-eat breakfast with everything from bread, yogurt and muesli to eggs and cheeses of all sorts. You kind of have to be an early bird to be able to enjoy it, but I get it, they are Germans. And for that amount of food, I can easily get out of bed. Most toilets are also spacious and nice with big windows that the sun in for perfect morning showers. Oh, and they serve (quite chap, actually) beer.
Now to the bad side. We visited this summer for Documenta. And I get the city is packed and everything, but we had a group of 6 and we got allocated a room that obviously was never meant to host that amount of people (at least not with that furniture). Of all kind of accomodations, I would expect youth hostels to be the most honest and fair about what they offer, but that was not the case with this one. I suggest you check thoroughly which kind of room you're getting before you proceed with your booking.

Staff was friendly. Rooms are simply furnished and beds are rather uncomfortable. Good for seminars. Opportunities to go out and have a drink are very nearby

This youth-hostel is lead by a professional team. They are very helpful with any kind of problem. We stayed only one night in july 2012 with a group of 25 students. They served us warm food at 7pm on a sunday since we were traveling all day. The prices are reasonable and the rooms are in a good condition. This is the place to stay if you go to see the documenta art exhibition. It is close to the city center. About 4 bus stops from either kassel wilhelmshöhe or kassel hauptbahnhof train station. Signs leading there could be placed more visible but once you found it you will be fine. My breakfast was very good, lot's to choose....Thank you.
