From excruciating pain in my ankle to no pain at all!

I am so glad I chose this clinic. I had a great experience with the Sportopädie. Dr. Schwarzer is a wonderful surgeon, very knowledgeable, sensitive, informative and the staff were always very helpful and kind.

Wonderful experience from start to finish, I HIGHLY recommend!

Id like to start off saying my initial appointment was absolutely great, Dr.Anja Heeman was informational and very competent in explaining to me in English. My surgery was scheduled within 3 weeks of my initial diagnosis.

My surgery experience was also fantastic. I felt very well taken care of and having known how lucky I was for the care I was recieving, I would have stayed the second night versus opting to go home.

I must add my post operation journey was a situation new to us all, I was unable to recieve physiotherapy until going into the end of the 3rd week post-OP due to the Pandemic. This has ultimately resulted in a much slower recovery. (Nobodys fault)

BUT - my follow up appointment was conducted by Dr.Maibaum, he was a stern man who didnt seem to have any time or patience for me. He was quite rough on my knee, only checking to see how straight I could make the knee. (Had not trained this movement at all with Physiotherapy as of yet) and very strictly told me I wasnt doing good enough in my recovery, he than proceeded to prescribe for me steroids and promptly told me not to read the insert with the prescription because I'd worry myself and to simply take them as he has prescribed.

Of course, than the first thing I did was research the prescription. As I am in NO WAY a professional and RESPECT this doctors time he gave me (although very little) I took the prescription and problem directly to my physiotherapist. In her experience she has never seen this approach and her opinion was to seek for second review. I met with both my hause praxis and frauen praxis concerned about taking a round of steroids to which both said to avoid at all costs but than advised me to speak with another Orthopädie so they can give advice from direct experience working with knee recovery. Not one, but two Orthopädics have told me STAY AWAY FROM THE STEROIDS.

Within 4 days of my visit with Dr.Maibaum, I worked on the full leg extention that I was unable to perform for him u0026 I could fully achieve it. I reached out to the clinic asking for a new appoinent before taking his prescription and I was spoken to very rudely by the staff. Stating hes a professional, I am not, and there is no time for me as it is not important enough, and to take the prescription.

I since have had an appointment with my original surgeon, Dr.Heeman, who I felt much more welcomed and cared for by. At this time I was experiencing complications. She seemed unimpressed I did not follow Dr. Maibaums advice with the steroids and asked directly to contact my Haus/Frau praxis - and since than, I never heard back from her.

Due mainly to my visit with Maibaum and this mishap with steroids being pressured on me, Ive began recieving care elsewhere. Incorporaring chiropactic care to my recovery has helped eliminate the complications I was experiencing within 2 treatments. The quick fix was steroids, but likely not a long term fix. And most likely to introduce further problems. The proper fix has been time, and doctors who have it to give.

No disrespect to these Doctors because I am very thankful for my operation and the time I have been given, but perhaps its passed the tipping point in this clinic and more Praxis are required or the scale of patients to be scaled back OR I was around at just the wrong timing with this Pandemic!!!! However the rude treatment and the pressuring of steroids in my recovery pushed me to another practise.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the treatment because I didn't get an appointment at all. They only seem to accept private patients, which I think is a shame.
Since I've been suffering from knee pain for a long time, I turned to the practice on a recommendation. Online appointment request... I got a polite rejection with the statement that due to a shortage of skilled workers only athletes are treated. All I can say is poor Germany.

(Translated by Google) I can only agree with some of the previous speakers...
If you want to make an appointment online, you will be advised to contact us by phone if it is urgent.
If you do that, you'll just be brushed off anyway with 'you've already sent us everything online, now you just have to wait until we get in touch with you'
No thanks, I don't want to have an operation here anymore.
Was a patient here of Dr. Huber, that's the only reason I wanted to come to this practice. But not under such circumstances.
Thanks, I'll look elsewhere. I don't want to put my trust in such a practice and such behavior.

(Translated by Google) I accompanied my (Italian) girlfriend, who speaks fluent English and very good German, to an X-ray after a foot injury. However, due to the current Corona regulations, accompanying persons were not permitted, which is why I had to wait outside. The doctor then accused my girlfriend of not speaking enough German and should have brought a translator. When she pointed out that I was sitting outside and could come in, she was only told that it was too late for that now. Throughout the conversation, she was treated in a top-down manner and told that she was wasting the doctor's and staff's time, which was scarce at the moment anyway. I can't make any statements about the professional competence. Overall, absolutely unacceptable behavior.

Insgesamt absolut inakzeptabler Umgang.

(Translated by Google) In 2019 I had a shoulder surgery there and from the first appointment to the diagnosis and finally the surgery I was actually enthusiastic about the practice and the staff. I too was and am a panel patient.
Today then the most blatant experience in a two-class society that I have ever experienced.
After I presented months ago because of an ankle injury and did the MRI that was instructed, I'm waiting in vain for an appointment to discuss my findings. An affair of 20 minutes maximum. However, I was not answered to multiple online appointment requests. (Findings already uploaded and sent several times months ago) I was still able to get an appointment today. If you want to make an appointment during the doctor's office hours, the phone call is automatically ended. When dialing for private patients, you will be put through. The reason given was "high telephone traffic" and "technical problems" (obviously!). The lady on the phone was friendly but tried everything to explain to me why I, as a regular patient and as a patient who had already presented, could not get an appointment. It was also not possible to estimate the time.
There is now a massive distinction here and, in my opinion, people who are not privately insured are also discriminated against.

(Translated by Google) My girlfriend recently underwent sports opaedics for her knee problems. During their conversation, the treating specialist was extremely arrogant, didn't say anything and gave her the impression that he had more important things to do than deal with her "little thing". Fortunately, my girlfriend does not have a serious knee injury, but "only" a misalignment of the knee, which also leads to pain and therefore requires treatment. After the MRI, which took place on another day, she was told that the responsible doctor would be in touch within a week. This week turned into 7 (!) weeks in which she called the practice several times and asked for an interview. The call back was made once, but was unfortunately missed (although she kept an eye on her cell phone for weeks), so she ended up making an appointment to discuss the MRI results. All in all, it was a very lengthy treatment that involved a lot of effort and annoyance. In practice, she did not feel valued as a patient at all. We can't say anything about the competence of the doctors because, as I said, only talks and the MRI took place. The only positive thing to mention is that she hardly had to wait the two times she was in the practice. We would definitely look for another practice in the future!
