Good food, but not spectacular
The staff at the restaurant is very helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed seating outside under a little tent. However, the food was just average. We were hoping to find some chanterelles on the menu, but were advised that they are currently very expensive and the restaurant does not carry any dishes. We started with a couple of mushroom soups, just regular mushrooms. They were creamy, slightly oversalted, but plentiful. A couple of beers we had were pretty good; a Kostrizer Schwarzvier and Kostrizer Kellerbier; both light and flavorful. For the main course we ordered Heinrich Flammkuchen, which is a sort of German style pizza with chicken and veggies in melted cheese. The crust was thin and crunchy and the dish was ok. We also asked for Gebackenrr camembert, which I thought was going to be baked cheese, but turned out to be a huge cheesestick, heavily breaded… it tasted good, but it was not what I expected. I also asked for a side of mashed potatoes to add to our meal. It was not on the menu, but the chef was able to provide it for us. To be honest, they were a bit watery and not very flavorful. Overall, it was a good, filling meal, but we are not likely to go back.
