The smell of cannabis was strong and the Windows diden’t close so the tram was noisy all night

Two stars; Why? Not just the ambience as mentioned before by other reviewers of trams passing by and shaking up the floor up until even the fifth floor. No, it was to be expected for the pricing of course. A few things however I found very surprising. When one books a room, decent hygiene is to be expected. We found our room which looked seemingly OK, even a few welcoming candies were placed on our pillows. How kind! But when I accidentally dropped something and had a glance under the bed I found even more candies either with or without a wrapper. Soon followed the discovery of some black mold forming in the corner of our bathroom which surely isn't compliant with public health regulations. (but again for the pricing to be expected I guess...)

The next day when we woke up we ran down to fill up our hungry bellies as we booked a room with breakfast in the morning. The reception and canteen was locked-up tight. No-one replied to the doorbell and when we checked later in a bit the door was still locked-shut.

I think the two star review speaks for itself. I hope others might find it useful! Ohh, and one last thing! (worth one of the two stars if not both) The towels were folded neatly and the beds were made very well!

Very good hotel with unbeatable low price. You get all what 4 starts hotels have to offer with half the price. Perfect location in the heart of the city, shops are all around. Only annoying part was the unavailability of reception. I had to call to get the door open. I called by phone once to ask for something while outside, there was no answer. I knocked the reception office door in two different times, night and morning, no one was there to open the door.

Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the outside, which I loved for how retro it looks. Getting in is a little confusing and the staff didn't have great English (not judging--my German is pretty bad--just letting potential visitors know) but they were able to upgrade our room when we realized we reserved the wrong type. Breakfast was the usual cold cuts, cereals, and juices, but not bad. It's a great place to stay if seeing a show at the Capitol.

I visited the Hotel Schwarzer Bär during a 3-day business trip to Hannover, Germany. The breakfast was very good and included a rich variety of sweets, cereals, bred, fish, and many more. In general the bed in the three-bed-room was comfortable too, but there was no proper desk and no comfortable chair or armchair in the room, allowing to work. Furthermore the shower was quite high above then floor level, not to forget the passing trams causing a rumorous noise every 10 minutes. All together it is a cheap and simple hotel with clean rooms.

Staff is very rude and not interested in your needs. Interior is very outdated and rooms are dirty. The Tram is passing by very closely and the windows aren't soundproof either.
If you ask to have some food at the breakfast being refilled the russian lady won't do anything about it but giving you a 'piss-off-look'.
Can't recommend the place whatsoever
