I truly enjoyed my short visit to this funky museum. For me the 5€ fee was well worth it. While the Beatles are part of the area's history, they aren't the only thing that happened in St Pauli. Yes, The Bass Guitar is here and PM has find memories but so so much more. Definitely worth an hour or so. Oh yeah, check out the restrooms.

We came here to end Hempel’s Beatles tour with a concert of around 8 songs. The drinks were nice but there weren’t anything to see except Paul McCartney’s bass.

The St. Pauli Museum sums it all up: history, clichés, atmosphere, party mile, crime zone, prostitution, rising stars, strong women and weak men... This small museum presents all the facades of this city quarter of hamburg. Photos, videos newspaper articles and billboards give you all the information you may need in order to take a first attempt of St. Pauli. Go there, taste their famous shot "Mexikaner", read through the different stories while having a drink and ask the staff to provide more background information if you like - they are always happy to tell anecdotes and other 'internal' stories. Whether you like it or not, you'll be fascinated by the mixture of lives in the neighbourhood. Beware of the opening hours, though...

This small museum packs a lot in. It’s perfect for anyone looking to find out more about what makes St Pauli the unique place it is. So many tourists just visit without learning how special St Pauli is for its residents past and present. The owner, Eva, has put her heart into creating a museum that has interesting history, photographs, and relics. She’s so generous with her knowledge too - I asked her many questions which she happily answered. She even gave me a tip for a place to visit to see the history in action. She was even kind enough to let me in for free as the exhibition is in the process of changing over to a new one and the English translations are in progress. I left a tip as there’s still much to see and enjoy. I really recommend anyone who wants to really understand St Pauli’s to visit. You can easily drop by after lunch or between activities, and you’ll be helping out a local business who genuinely cares about the community.

We visited this museum as the final part of the Stefanie Hempel
Beatle tour. Atmospheric place with a fine performance from Stefenie
singing Beatle songs. The place its self is full of interesting period
items especially the photo albums containing Beatle pics I've never
seen before. Worth a visit, but beware when I tried to take a photo
of the frontage of the museum and the street a female member of staff put her hand over my lens and said "no photographs after 6pm" , I couldn't understand this and said " if you visit Liverpool you could
take pictures of the Cavern and street at any time". It wasn't til I got
back to the Hotel that someone explained its probably because of the 'working girls'. I didn't notice any but there again I didn't really look.
Sorry I didn't know the rules. Still enjoyed the museum.

Amazing and Knowledgeable!
I actually apologise to the Staff, as I could talk to them for hours...weeks maybe!
But they are mega busy, so again I apologise.

You will learn A LOT about the REAL Saint Pauli, not just the stereo typical tourist view of the region, but it’s socio-political and historical context as a bridge between the Old Hamburg and Altona.

If you want to know about the REAL Hamburg, it’s history and cultural richness, please go here!
