This might have been a good place years ago but it is definitely not worth visiting now, especially if you are a tourist in Hamburg.
It is far from the city center, a good 50-60 minutes on public transportation.
The place feels not much cared for, with several exibits broken or well worn out.
We got there at around luch time and the options for food were very limited: the on-site cafe did not have food, only a few hot drinks. Make sure you bring food for your babies/kids.
All signals are in german, no translation. The same goes for the website.
Overall, we had the impression this is an indoor option for local families, but definitely not to be considered as a day out option if you are visiting the city with kids.
The nappy changing facilities are good.
I would not recommend going there, unless you are already in the area and desperate to go somewhere indoor.

It seems like it used to be a good place for children. Now it is almost abandoned. Most experiments and toys are old and broken. The place is really dirty and the service is outdated. No need to mention the outdoor area...just a pile of garbage. Needs renovation now or shut it down. Does not worth the visit. Below any expectation.

Old and smelly.
So many great museums in Germany, this one is a big No No.
Big drive from city center, located in a deserted area and most of it the place is old, the exhibits are outdated and may be good 30 years ago.
Do not wasted your time here.

Great place, the surroundings don't show how much fun kids can have is this interactive museum.

Lovely for kids....and it's free. It is not huge, but still has lots of animals

Take your grandchildren for a visit. They will enjoy.
