Owner is really nice, we had to change the reservation and he open the next day only for us.
Food is super nice (at the moment a closed 23€/pers menu) and drinks a bit expensive, but I would still recommend it.
Completely different food!

There are not many Ethiopian restaurants like Karl’s Cafe. As soon as you enter, the warm and lovable host (Alex) and the restaurant’s cozy ambiance make you feel right at home.

The food tastes incredible but what makes the experience even more amazing is the care Alex and his team take to explain what each item is.
From the thoughtful hand washing ritual at the beginning to the ornate bowls of savory popcorn at the end, every moment at Karl’s is vibrant and dazzling.

The starters are innovative additions to Ethiopian cuisine but the coffee ceremony has to be my favorite part. The hand roasted coffee beans filled the restaurant with the smell of rich Ethiopian coffee and made us look forward to eventually drinking the traditionally-brewed and delicious tasting coffee.

Last bit of advice, you should book a reservation just to taste the homemade chocolate cake. Who would’ve thought I’d find the best chocolate cake of my life in an Ethiopian restaurant?

Nice outdoor seating. Simple but good classic ethiopic food, tastes like I am used to. Kind service from most of them. Price is high for what you get, though, and I am not used to pay almost 8 euros for tap water.

Don't be fooled by the name: Karl's Cafe and weine, the food here is delicious!!! I can't recommend it enough. It's small and cosy, the acoustics are a little loud but well worth trying to squeeze your way inside. Once you seat yourself down, you'll be instantly transported to a far away place filled with the friendliest wait staff, and aromas to make you smile for the rest of the week. (Try the chicken... I'm still drooling...)

Haven't had a more friendly service anywhere else in Germany. The staff is so sweet and so happy to help that it lifts your mood instantly. The food is amazingly tasty. It's a combination of flavours which you won't forget. I like Ethiopian food a lot for the mixture of flavours and always try it in different parts of Europe, This place is one of the top most. It's one of my favourite place to go in the city. Try to book in advance because its generally always fully booked on weekends and a lot of time also on weekdays
