Block House in Hamburg surprised us in two places in the city with really pleasant and quick service. You certainly feel that the customer is their first priority. Excellend salads topped our expectations. We'll be back!

The food and the wine were nice.

Regarding service I guess we were unlucky as the ratings I read here mostly look excellent.
We were NOT impressed. Our waitress was not friendly whatsoever. Although she should have noticed I was making an effort to communicate in German, she showed impatience when I took a little too long in her opinion to understand what she was telling me. When she did not acknowledge the fact that I wanted my dish without coleslaw, I asked her if she had taken a note, again she showed impatience.
That lady has obviously no idea what waiting tables is about: It is not only about bringing food from the kitchen to a table, but also making sure the customer feels comfortable and will plan plan to come back.

large place, helpful staff, meat very good. the staff speaks english. honest prices for hamburg.

It's such a good place here. They were really friendly and the food was delicious! It wasn't very cheap, but the quality of the beef was really good.
