Novotel Freiburg am Konzerthaus

After a caothic bus ride (our bus broke down and we were left in Freiburg with no alternative transport or place to sleep), the hotel and its members helped us and allowed us to stay in their establishment. They were extremely understanding and human with us. We spent a very good night in this hotel in two super and very comfortable rooms. We also had the chance to have a breakfast on site which offered all the possibilities imaginable. A big thank you again to the staff because we don't know what we would have done without them.

Beautiful hotel and rooms, the location is amazing as it is close to all you might need. The reception people are very kind and professional. Beware of the rooms right next to the elevator since it's very squeaky, you even hear it from inside the room. Small things I thought were missing are coffee/tea in the room and a terrace or outdoor-ish area. Still very happy and would come back there anytime I'm in Freiburg !

I didn't like the room (maybe I don't like antiques but it's not just that). The carpet on the floor was very dirty. The towels in the toilet had a very weird unpleasant smell, as if they were washed but not left to dry properly. For a 4 stars hotel, there should be at least a nice TV in the room which wasn't the case. The TV doesn't even have Netflix nor can it mirror a smartphone. The staff were nice and helpful and that's the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one, plus the location is very nice.

From the start, the front desk was neither helpful nor attentive. The room was ok, but not very comfortable and extremely hot, so we had to leave the windows open. The concert hall outside seemed to be area where a lots people gather and party all night long, so it was very noisy in our room. The bathroom stank like sewage. I assume the smell was coming from the pipes. The breakfast was good and offered good variety of food.

Pros: very helpful morning reception, comfortable room and good location next to the train station

Cons: there was a very grumpy middle aged man for the night reception who looked like he hated his job. Blamed us for booking a queen bed for two when I showed him Novotel's Agoda listing clearly allowed two people per room (he said that queen beds were only meant for one person, which is ludicrous as I have never been told this in dozens of countries I have visited). He stubbed his toe and swore loudly, startling guests, and also asked us to close the fridge door two seconds after we opened it to buy a drink (we had no intention of holding it open any longer than necessary). Was going to give this place a 5 but docked 2 stars for the sour taste that this curmudgeon left in our mouth.

That was really nice time there, hotel is animal friendly, but swimming pool was really small, and i didnt know then parking is paying, but its okey, price are cheep.
For me wasnt nice then i dont speak german and at recepcion, they traid speak to me in german (i started first conversation in english), so that was strange ????

Horrible service. The receptionist acted like we were troubling her by reserving a room and checking in. She was acting as if she was doing us a favor. The hotel is more or less empty, we asked for 2 rooms on the same floor and she said its not possible. Horrible client reception, they are forgetting we are paying 100s of euros a night to stay here, not 20-50 euros.
