We enjoyed our stay at Ferienhif Walter. The staff was very nice and warm. Our room was great, we actually stayed in one of the apartments and would like to go back to spend a few more days. The apartment is wide, comfortable, warm and very well equipped, with lovely views over the wineyard. The breakfast was correct, not a super wide range of choices but it is understandable considering the size of the hotel (they would end up wasting and trashing out a lot of food otherwise). Very good choice for a getaway of a few days and conveniently close to Freiburg (15-20min to center bu car). Very good quality-price ratio. We recommend it entirely.

Off the beaten path guest house close to Freiburg but still somewhat secluded. They don't advertise on any of the major sites for hotels but this is not exactly a hotel but more like 2 small apartment buildings with rooms u003d apartments to rent for various short stays.

The hosts are a wonderful family that own the farm, vineyards, the guest house, the country store and the cafe that goes along with them. The houses are much better maintained then I was seeing here in the States and clean like one wouldn't believe. We needed a crib for our 10 months old daughter and even though it's a bit unusual request Frau Martina and her husband have accommodated this request.

Overall I can't say any more praises to the place though some of the requirements are a bit more unusual for those coming from the States.

We loved our stay in one of the apartments recently. The Walter family were so welcoming, friendly and made our holiday very easy. The apartment was clean, comfortable and really spacious with a great view of the vineyards and Freiburg. We enjoyed the hearty breakfast, Walter wine (and juice for the kids!) and it was a great location for walks to Opfingen and to explore the beautiful Black Forest.

As a British family with kids we found the area to be so friendly and laid back despite not being a very common destination for UK families, it was really easy to enjoy and get around although a bit of German language helped. We recommend Aquafun in Schluchsee, the Treetop trail in Waldkirch and can't go wait to go back one day.
