Even if I had managed to go through the closed borders of Germany, I'd need to stay in quarantine (meaning that even if the event I was gonna attend, which got cancelled, had happened, I'd still NOT have been able to attend). Then another quarantine when coming back home. Besides putting myself and everyone in contact with me at risk. I contacted them back longer than 6 months ago and the only response I got was "we are open. No exceptions. We're open, we're NOT going to be flexible in any way". I asked anything that could be done, maybe getting a refund on half of my stay. Maybe charging me the first day and the admin but refunding me the other days. NO. I offered to keep my booking for the next year, literally no refund but I'd use the house in 2021 instead, NO. if I were you I'd think twice before booking with them - they're clearly a business and not people behind the computer, absolutely no compassion or flexibility of any kind even with a situation like that. This would have been my 10th year in Essen of many to come, and had I had a good experience I'd just stay with them every single year, but definitely never booking with them again.
