Very good. Friendly atmosphere. Taking care after bikers and cyclers. Food is very good and drinks as well. Pricing is ok but raises if you take the old alcoholic brands. 6 stars for the boss and his staff. Feels like a family!!

Idyllic hotel in a quiet area but with good local transportation connections to Düsseldorf airport and Essen. The hotel has a good restaurant, bar and a 9-pin bowling alley. The rooms and the breakfast are quite basic, but serve their purpose. Overall I think you get really good value for your money when staying in this hotel.

Speaking only about the restaurant.
I visited Sengelmanshof restaurant a few years ago and it was not a bad experience as I recall, apart from a rather surly waiter.
Last week I tried again, and it was a real disappointment!
The restaurant itself I can only describe as ‘dowdy’ and more reminiscent of the ‘60’s! Dark , gloomy and large swathes of dreary cream paint and uninviting looking tables, with grey runners! I’m sure it was basically clean, but uninviting!
However, you don’t eat the furnishings!
The waiter seemed amiable, if not enthusiastic, however once the order was taken , in an almost empty restaurant, the service stopped abruptly!
The food served , matched the decor! Not bad, but certainly not good and certainly not inventive and having the air of being assembled rather than lovingly presented. The second glass of wine only came after a prompt 10 minutes after, when the main course had almost been finished. The meal completed nobody came to enquire about dessert/ coffee, and when the staff ( 5 of them!) could finally be dragged from their obviously intense personal conversation we paid our bill and left thinking: sad, but that it was not atypical for German service!
Will not be going again!

Valentine Menu, what a disapointment. If they continue with this type of presentation with the emphasis on maximum profit then the restaurant will be empty. From the starter to the dessert the whole experience was indescribably disapointing. I doubt if any of the courses were freshly prepaired. The wine, well lack of it, sitting with empty glasses is poor service. My wife and daughter inlaw managed one glass of white and one of red. Obviously the service staff being told not to be generous. I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and have enjoyed the experience.

Good hotel, nice breakfast. Only the wifi is very slow in the rooms, in the lobby is it ok.
