One of my favorite runs in that part of Germany: all around Burgaltendorf, first heading down to the Ruhr, passing Schleuse Horst all the way to Schwimmbruecke Dahlhausen, continue along the Ruhr until you can go up the hill to Niederwenigern. Cross the village to Turmstrasse and return to Burgaltendorf. About 15km (9miles). Hilly. In summer extremely verdant and nice. Practically no traffic or very slow traffic.
